FINAL post on this topic hopefully…. Apparently there’s another customer with same symptoms and the sensor replacement cured it so worth a punt I guess!
Bright new shiny DPF/ cat/ sensors beneath and van running great with correct pressure / temp stats etc.
I’m so sick of it all but I must admit I was still full of joy as I drove home today after my epic 2- bus journey on a humid day in Northern Ireland accompanied by a sleep- deprived 2 year- old!!!
Hopefully this process helps someone, at home we’re justifying this by reckoning we couldn’t have changed to a similar spec van for the total of turbo and DPF and I’ve done so much other work to it and these things are now warranted for 2 years so really shouldn’t occur again! Joyous watching the DPF monitor stats for a change but I this I’ve gotta de- obsess about that now, the oil ash % is 0.01 now and each hundredth saddens me
Oh yeah, editing for final thoughts here…. If your oil consumption is up it could be a turbo issue- I kept feeding the van oil…. Turbo needed replaced, I just went OEM after reading other reconditioned turbo woes but always thought the EGR and DPF would have suffered with that much oil being processed through the system.
So…. Turbo gone after 100,000 miles and oil drinking, yer DPF is probably screwed!
