Servicing - costs, schedules and VWCV plans

This was on a Golf 1.5 Evo last year and cost £850 for an oil/filter service, brake fluid, auxiliary drive belt, cambelt kit and MOT. All genuine parts and added to the VW service register. I think main dealer prices were around £1000 for belt alone and their mileage range for price matching...

Cam & Aux Belt Tensioner Noise, Recorded.

...miles) has suddenly started making that squealing noise now on low temps - should I be concerned? I've had a new alternator and changed the cambelt (inc. water pump) this year and have done about 7k miles since. Should the tensioner have been replaced at the same time as the cambelt? It was...

    Cambelt/WaterPump - Totton VW Southampton

Booked the van in today for its MOT and service under the All in Plan and I’ve been told it requires its cambelt and water pump done due to it being 4 years old, at a price of £645+VAT….. Did I read somewhere on here the forum gets a discount there or am I mistaken?

Just to update that after a bit of a challenging but calm discussion () they are now honouring the deal we had made and are replacing the cambelt and water pump Thanks for everyone’s input on this, which has been really helpful and a great support!

    Noise from timing section.

I think it’s something to do with the sprockets and they are not changed for a service.

    Cam Belt Change requirement

Unless the belt is contaminated/damaged its often pulley failure that causes the belt to break, the idler pullies or tensioner bearings can dry out or fail and they only have to run a tiny bit out of alignment to wreck the cambelt.

Can you repair things elsewhere and then get the extended warranty out?

I can get the extended warranty but the motor needs a few things sorted. Water pump/cambelt etc. My question is, can I get those things replaced anywhere I want or does VW have to do the fix and do the parts have to be VW own? I can't see anything in the documents that says you can't have a...

    Welcome new members

Hi, I'm Glenn, from Belgium. Bought our first T6 a while ago (non runner). Had a few t4's and still have a few t5's. This T6 was cheap with a cambelt failure, so thats the new project.

    Location Common Rail pressure sensor.

I can see 2 connectors out there that are the same. Number 2 looks like the pressure sensor. It's hard to disconnect. Is this the one??

    Header tank and silica bags

Now the cam belt interval has extended I wonder if coolant change needs to be considered, as typically, it was done with the pump/cambelt.

    Help with my sisters T5

Yes exactly, the garage is liable, not the mechanics, they should have a look at the camper again if they value their reputation. My cambelt and water pump were changed before I took possession of my van, but nothing else was done, sometimes I wonder if they see a woman coming and try it on...
