Is this Campervan worth the advertised price?

If really you want the van then chip away at the price to allow for getting cambelt, DMF and a full service at VW prices and add some contingency to cover any unknowns However, I’d rather have a solid base van, the extras can be added!

    Cambelt

Shogun, mine is 10 years old too, I just got it in May, I think they changed the cambelt for me prior to be on the safe side, so no comebacks for them. Mine has 66,000 miles on it which is still quite low for it's age, and have not used mine due to stuff happening too  I envy you...

Warranty oil leak claim refused under extended

With the crank seal, are they doing cambelt and water pump at the same time? (As part of that quote)... As the timing belt and crank sprocket need removing to do the crank seal.

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Changed the glow plugs to sort the open circuit fault on cylinder 4. Hopefully that’s it for the year as it’s not been a cheap one - crank seal & cambelt, turbos and exh manifold, egr, head unit touchscreen etc etc

Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

Regions with harsh conditions - 120k km for cambelt Western Europe - 220k km. I have two T6s. On one of them there was no serious maintenance done before I bought it at 210k km. Main region of operation - Germany. Cambelt/rollers were noisy and the kit was changed at 210k. I prayed while driving...

Cambelt + Water Pump Replacement - Official guidance

I'm coming up to the 4 year mark and have had a few quotes from local garages for cambelt & water pump at £438 & £502 (inc vat and genuine parts so won't affect extended warranty) but the nearest VW van centre is wanting £458.40 for the cambelt only or £815.62 for cambelt & water pump! What...

    Cambelt Disaster!

...it, the van (T6 2016) made a funny noise, went into limp mode, then wouldn't start again after she'd stopped. To cut a long story short the cambelt had lost a tooth or two and slipped, only cost just shy of £3,000 to put it right  I bought the van 2nd hand at the beginning of 2020 and...

    140PS. Oil Leak?

...camper today. It's done 115K miles and 2 mots ago there was an advisory for an oil leak but not excessive. Owner said it was sorted when cambelt changed but looks like cambelt was done before the mot with the advisory. I have had a look under front of van and looks like there is definitely...

Warranty refusal: crankshaft oil seal failure

...other associated parts. Oil leaks aren't covered under All In Warranty The cheeky buggers even suggested they can save me money by having cambelt and water pump done at same time. To quote Cambelt & Water Pump recommended due to age of vehicle. However, Volkswagen advise replacement of...

    Service schedule - esp coolant

Thanks @DXX, I wasn't suggesting it's essential at 4 years but rather that it would get done along with the cambelt and water pump schedule

    Finding independent engineer

Thanks for your reply. The dealer only said he’d change the water pump and cambelt - at that time I wasn’t aware of the kit so didn’t know I needed to be more specific. (Steep learning curve regarding this!) As far as they are concerned they have done what they said they would. I know need to...

Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

VW Trafford Park. MOT and minor service with the All-in-one plan, and £570 for cambelt, water pump and tensioner. EDIT: just seen on the video they send through that they priced the Cambelt work at £647 (this might be the price for non All-in-one customers, or where it wasn't booked in...

    T6.1 Test Drive

...knock them down a little bit. The bonus being the dealer is only 8 miles from my house, and they offer warranty packages. What do I need to be looking for tomorrow? Apart the usual noises and window leaks. I don’t think cambelt has been changed but isn’t the advice 140K now? Thanks in advance!

    Coolant leak - Investigation ideas

...:( The specialist I took it to assured me that when they took it apart there was no sign of internal damage, or bore score. They seemed confident it would be fine, but I’m seriously worried now. Difficult to know what garage to trust. They did a full oil change and cambelt water pump with the...

    Main dealers service

Update if anyone’s interested So apparently they changed the Cambelt change from years to milage recently, it was 5 years but now 120k miles. I went into see them today and they “looked” on the computer and saw it had already had a Cambelt change (so I didn’t need the urgent mechanical...
