Next I had to start looking at the seat base itself. I made some slight modifications to the base to allow more room for the cables to come up into the seat base and also made some hole in the side which is where the 2 50mm2 cables are going to be routed to the back of the van for the inverter...
So progress has been made on the install at last. I’ve moved the amp from the drivers seat to the passenger seat. I managed to get it to fit at the front if the enclosure that the sub is mounted in. I re-routed the audio cables over to the passenger seat and ran a new 16mm2 cable to power the...
When you come to the installation, I would earth to the nearest earth point on the van, rather than route everything back with cable to an earth busbar. Less cable needed, and less voltage drop. For example, if your diesel heater is under drivers footwell, there is an earth point right next to it.
Like a lamb to the slaughter , hopefully to obtain some good advice from the Electrically minded on here . I have been pondering the layout & leisure setup in my new van for a while. I did go down the Roamer design route but it was all bells & whistles and would of been unnecessary for my needs...
Thanks for this info. Appreciate you taking time to feedback on your outcome . I fitted a driver swivel yesterday (RIB) into our t6.1 shuttle. Plan was to also install the Kiravans double swivel on the passenger side as have double bench seat and the new style Kiravans double swivel has the...
@ginkster thanks for your input. I've amended the diagram and removed the fuse into the B2B. I've also shown a fuse on the outlet from the leisure battery. It's something I'd have have hopefully noticed when I came to doing the wiring.
As far as fusing all outputs on the positive busbar, all...
Because I want to use the parking mode on the highly sensitive setting, it also often sits for quite some time, so I try and keep as much as possible away from the main battery. BTW it works really well a light tap on the windows is all it takes to start recording.
I also prefer to keep any 3rd...
I would be grateful for advice from other T6Fers on any experiences with Gigaclear. My BT contract is now up and whilst they've generally been good, they're getting increasingly expensive when compared to introductory offers from Gigaclear who recently finished their fibre network in the...
My immediate concerns with the battery as is:
Doesn't look physically secured so likely to move under crash or emergency braking - this may also sheer the cables that appear to be routed through the paneling vent holes.
No master fuse on the positive terminal - fire risk.
Poorly terminated and...
** UPDATE **
Thanks to @EAN for the advice on the Renogy. I was not convinced with it in all honesty so I've had another look at the options and I think I'm now going to go for a MultiPlus 12/1600/70. By doing this it means I can downsize the cabling to either 50mm2 or 70mm2, I don't need to...
Of course I have, yeah. Pretty much keeping it floor level, planning on drilling a hole in the bottom of the seatbase somewhere near the back and then with a gland and some conduit or a grommet, running it out and down in to the step void under the floor (I have a twin slider) and then back up...
Given 120mm2 cable is about 2cm in diameter, i.e. absolutely huge, have you thought about the physical aspects of routing and terminating it? The bend radius alone will make it extremely difficult to get around anything approaching a corner I would have thought?
Plan for installation and hardware location: (Updated)
Most of this is going to be installed under the drivers seat where the existing kit is currently. I'll need to relocate the Dream 1 amp to the passenger seat which is currently filled with an JL Audio Subwoofer. It looks like this will fit...
You want a fuse slightly higher rating than the max output of the charger, so around 40A. If you start the engine & disable the engine shutdown function, do things change? You still haven't said what the SOC is. If the battery is charged or in Absorption phase, the current will be reduced...
Do you have another decent battery charger for other cars etc? If not the ip65 gives you the option to simply unplug it and use it elsewhere for a tiny extra cost (if any). Or the option to relocate it to say under the bonnet if you do future changes to the system. If flexibility is not needed...
I/m thinking about an induction install and to run a small Nespresso coffee machine.
Would a Victron Easyplus run these? Or would it be better to get a Multiplus 2000VA?
I'm also wondering if I would need to go bigger on the cable than 35mm2?
Thanks
I've recently changed phones and my previous phone charged albeit slowly when using Android Auto and GPS. New phone actually loses power when plugged in.
I think the head unit can only supply around 500ma which seems is not enough to run AA, GPS and charge.
Has anyone else seen this and come up...
The seat base on most swivel seats doesn't move, just the seat and mount on top of it. Unless there's a weird swivel seat out there that does (double seat?).
