Hey...
I was just wondering if a T6 Factory Kombi would have any additional insulation or sound deadening beyond the carpeted panels in the back? Mine is a Highline spec.
I did the whole Silent Coat / silver bubble wrap / sheep's wool thing in my T5 and wondering what will need doing in my T6...
...floor, but it will require some effort. Only the contact surface between the composite floor and the vehicle floor is glued. Therefore, it would be necessary to remove the insulation from the grooves/ridges on the floor of your VW (Mobiframe's floor needs to be glued to the metal directly).
With poptop or not?
Van insulated?
Front screen wrap?
What type of bed have you got.
You have a diesel heater?.
......
We just use layers.....
Starting vith PJs.
Then a duvet,
Then various over fleece blankets.
And a fleece blanket underneath too.
We have no poptop, but van panels and...
Sorry to hijack a thread, but saves opening a new one.
We've been using a Stitches&Steel cover for a few years, works great, keeps the light out and packs away small. Only issue it isn't insulated. I've looked at the insulated ones and they don't seem like they will pack down small enough.
As...
Hi bud, I was told by installers that you can't have insulation on the floor because of the bonding glue. This didn't particularly make sense to me (I have the 2mm foil backed insulation on my floor).
The insulation is stuck to the floor already and I would bet that it would not come unstuck in...
I have not seen that. is it that you line and insulate with sheep's fleece? Sheep's fleece is sometimes used here as house insulation instead of manufactured products. Afraid I can not help with your technical question but others should.:)
Stage 2 - Insulation
Next up was the insulation for the van. I layered this one going sound deadening, thermo liner and then plastic bottle insulation. All the parts I used are listed below.
Sound Deadening - Dodo Matt Deadn
Thermo Liner - Dodo Matt Thermo Liner
Insulation - Diall Plastic...
Is your van insulated?
Do you have an insulated cover for the cab windows (internal or external)?
Do you have thermal curtains or window blinds?
Do you have a woolly hat?
Do you have a winter-rated quilt or sleeping bag?
If you can answer "yes" to each of the above, then you should be warm...
...you to do this? I’ve figured I will need to get ‘camper to conversion’ insurance? Or can I just go with normal van insurance?
Within the first year I’m planning on only adding electrics (leasiure battery), windows, insulation/panelling and a rock and roll bed (seats).
Thank you for any advice.
...the day....... But they are more cash and fold away large.
The basic covers fold down small, are cheaper but don't offer any of the insulation attributes above.
...
We use the basic cover in snow and ice, plus on a quick one night stop over. Ie britstop or stealth camp.
But move onto the...
Insulation doesn’t stop things from cooling/heating, all it does is slow down the rate of change. The better the insulation the slower the heating/cooling on either side of the insulation. If insulation was perfect, then a flask of coffee would never go cold & ice would never melt in a cool box.
I’ve got a factory SWB 6.1 Kombi with twin sliding doors and tailgate (no bulkhead).
It’s standard in the back with bare paint and fibreboard panels.
A friend has done a couple of vans and works on luxury yacht interiors so we’re going to give it a go.
Can anyone help me with:
