    Which Pop-Top?

I see Hilo/Horizon now has 60Kg roof loading, which would put it back on my list. I was picking mine in Autumn 2022, so not the right time to be going Hilo.

Electric windows with a mind of their own!

...with a VW specialist and he has recommended that I replace the micro-switch on the drivers door lock as well, as they can be prone to water ingress. Just wanted to ask the question what's the thoughts? As I am still really concerned that the windows could open again, weather or theft...

    Tailgate third brake light vendor

...do what I did and remove all the tailgate trims  The seal leaks, bur the OE part has been upgraded. As a temporary measure, I used heavyweight clear tape over the light to reduce water ingress. Also remove the 4 plastic bungs from the bottom of the tailgate to allow the water to drain.

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

...end. Put a smear of Sikaflex 221 under the top 'clamp' and behind the lower flange. This stops shifting and creaking, and prevents water ingress via bolt holes. I'll let the Sika cure for 48hrs then mount the spare. Mine is on 18s and the spare is still a 16, so when I get back from next...

T6 Central door locking not working from the inside

...too. You can remove the unit and remove the blue microswitch from the rear and probably see like mine that there is corrosion from water ingress. I've just removed mine but not yet ordered a replacement as everything on ebay looks like copy chinese stuff. the blue microswitch is the same...

    Thule Wingbar Evo

This is a very good and thoughtful query. If they are attached via the standard roof holes there is a risk of water ingress, as with anything bolted on there. Did you see prior to fitting if the foot sections of the roof bar kit have a rubber gasket or pad that snugly and completely covers the...

    Gear Box Error

Evening All, So I was driving my van back from getting the sliding door module replaced following water ingress from a leaky rear quarter window. Stopped at a petrol station, filled up with diesel and went to restart the van and the following error code came up. Couldn't start the van, called...

    Underslung Water Tank Filling Issue

The tank has to be vented at the highest point. This to allow the air out when filling and to allow air in when consuming water. I have two vents in case I’m parked on a hill, 4mm bore is plenty, stick a cheap, generic disposable fuel filter on the end of the vent tubes to prevent ingress of...

How to prevent rain water leaking past the sliding door rail and the rail cover panel into your van

The sliding door rail and the sliding door rail cover panel are both prime locations for rainwater ingress. With the rail, the rain water gets behind the foam gasket for the rail end then seeps past the bolt and into your van. With the sliding door rail cover panel, the fastening clips which...

Drivers side step insert filling with water

Hi, I took mine to VW and they did a ‘water ingress test’ (put it under a hose for a few hours) and confirmed there was a leak. They’ve said it’s a door seal that’s the problem and they’re ordering me a new seal in. Once it’s fitted and it rains again I’ll report back as to whether this is the...

    Which Pop-Top?

Not sure which roofs have a vinyl canvas, but the Hilo has a high quality, marine-grade canvas. Not sure if that's the same as water-proofed. but never had any water ingress. My bad for not reading thread the entire thread.

T6.1 no sound from head unit

If by fitting them you caused the water ingress that resulted in the short then yes. It's not a matter of avoiding the warranty, the warranty doesn't cover damage you caused even if unwittingly. It's insurance against manufacturing faults not accidental damage. If you've gone back to stock then...

I am sure I have see this discussion before here on the forum. If I remember correctly water ingress on the slider is quite common. Coming in from the rear latch area. Or from the leaky window, water dripping through the slider panel to the bottom resulting in damp in the area you have...
