Hi All,

Have the abs and traction lights on the dash. Strange thing, and why I'm stuck is it's no giving any codes on the OBD scanner.

Is there anyway of knowing if its an electrical gremlin or it is a sensor and if a sensor how do I know which one, please?

Hi I found mine out with carista, if your scanner has a live data setting click on that then when you take it for a drive it will give you speed of each individual wheel…. my right rear read at zero so I knew to change that one

Thanks Snowy, Carista ordered.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.... so Carista arrived, duly plugged in and scanned, with some strange results, some I can't even find in the search function:

25126 - manufacturer specific code
04197 - wheel speed sensor rear left - I was expecting this one
00073 - tracers for glove subject (E316)
01365 - lock switch interior
03301 - feedback locked position drivers door
03442 - feedback lock position trunk
00001 - control unit breaks ( note not brakes sp.)

Any ideas peeps????

Does the 4motion work?
Please post "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu).

Here you go: strangely the abs and TCS warning lights lit up mid way through the scan.

Partially different/missing codes now? Has the van been driven since fault clear - because engine is (still) happy?
I think you need to tackle first left rear speed sensor issue code 4197 (either wiring or the sensor itself) - it should clear also the sympathy codes 25126, 0079, (0073)

So the plot thickens.... have changed the rear left abs sensor and cleared the faults. The lights are still showing intermittently, sometimes just the abs light, sometimes both abs and traction control. Strangely twice yesterday the van felt like it was braking itself when turning tight left on a campsite.
Running out of ideas myself and need to get it MOT'd next week, so any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Any solution found for this problem? I am experiencing same symptoms. As it snowed it appeared that the 4wd would not work either. I was wondering if the abs and traction control lights have something to do with it? Also had this sensation of the van braking itself when turning low speed after starting the car.

ABS, Traction Control and AWD all rely on measuring the relative speed of each wheel to figure out which one is at a different speed to the others and then take action, so if there is not reliable data they can all be impacted.

Your first step is to get something that can read fault codes, or find a member local who has one, and see what's causing your warning lights.

@kiveshmo. Unfortunately my issues remains unsolved. This also knocks out the 4motion as you have discovered as it works off the abs sensor, which is actually a wheel speed sensor. I changed both sensors again and this cleared the issue for a couple of weeks. I'm now leaning towards a possible issue (broken/rusty teeth on the ring or grease getting through the bearing) in the hub or an issue with the wiring. Am waiting for a date to pop into a mates garage as its now beyond my meagre skills. I'll update as I get more news.

Got my fault codes read and got the following codes:
4197- Rear left wheel speed sensor
8269-Databus
31343- Control module for all wheel drive clutch
25126- Implausible data received from Esp control module

After I got these codes I changed the speed sensor and the abs light went away but still got the traction control light and text saying ESC error. And also four weel drive still not working. Any ideas?

Kiveshomo- you may be better off starting a new thread, so people realise it's an issue with your van...

Had the same warning lights, also stated tyre pressure not available. The fault was intermittent at first and would disappear after about 3 minutes.
Reading every post and trawling through Google, I worked out it was either a wheel sensor or the sensor ring.
Luckily, my next door neighbour has a garage and brought his diagnostic device home. It showed that the problem was the right rear sensor. My fear was it could have been the ring, but changing the sensor did the trick.
I suspect his diagnostic device was very expensive! Hope you sort you problem.
