+1 for a set of these....
Had them fitted to my new sportlines, don’t drive the bus hard and they seem ok, and at £45 a corner couldn’t say no.
Also love the lip on the tyre which has saved my new wheels countless times

I had the accelera fitted to our 20"s. Quieter than the land sails on my 19" ford focus rims. I've noticed them fitted to other cars lately too

Interesting picture. Do you have a standard locking wheelbolt and a separate tunerbolt ? That would slow them down... Was looking for something extra on my (too much trouble than they're worth) Rotiforms. Obvs really... Just never thought of that. Apologies.... not wanting to derail the thread.

Hi
I had spare locking bolts from my old vw alloys , so I just used them as well

Hedge Finders / Kerb Grinders .....there's many more I could mention. The comment was more around the term 'budget' tyres as I've bought vehicles that have had budgets fitted by the previous owner and without exception they've been terrible in the wet and not that good in the dry.........these have subsequently been replaced irrespective of how much tread was left. Modern power steering takes away the true feedback from the tyres so many drivers wouldn't feel the tyres misbehaving. If the GBP/IDR exchange means we are getting premium tyres at budget money then great. Personally I wouldn't take a gamble on something as important as tyres - you generally only find out how bad they are when you really need them.

Used mine a fair few times and without a shadow of a doubt my vans most impressive feature are the brakes - im shocked by how good the thing stops.

oh dear my trade price is £106 for 2......not delivered tho

Now you tell me !.... The £160 is is delivered, Inc VAT though... They have to make a profit I guess.

If it wasn't for this thread though, I'd have just shelled out double that for a pair of Proxies !

They are called Menerva Frostrack, part of the Continental group.

Only a cheaper end of the tyre range, but came highly recommended by my tyre shop.
Out of every brand of tyre I've used, these things are the most impressive for some reason. The winter qualities are exceptional, but it's the all round grip, and comfort I rate them for.
I'd like to run them through the summer, but they are very soft compounds and a very obvious winter tyre visually.

This is why I'm ditching my current summers, in search of something that's as good as these winters, but for summer use.

I’m running the menerva frostrack too. Used for 4months and just removed them about 4 weeks ago. Bloody amazing winter tyres.
First test was a drive to the Netherlands which had snow on the road for the first 120miles and I can confirm that 2-5 inches of snow wasn’t enough to keep me and the official snow ploughs out of the outside lane on the m40. (Reduced speeds obviously!!)

I’m now running those for winter and my uniroyal rainsort 3 for the other months. Perfect combination in my eyes. I’ve done 10k on my uniroyals and expect to get another 4K out of them.

I'm just about to order my banded steels from Duchy and I have decide on 8.5"/9".

Before I leave Germany next week , I'm getting my tyres over here as they are cheaper and I get the VAT off which is 19%.

I've decided on Uniroyal Rainsport 3 - 255 45 18 103Y XL which I'm getting for 390 euro which is around £350, before I make the purchase tomorrow, has anyone got any reviews on them or used them?

I can also get Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 (£365) or Barum Bravuris 3HM (£290)

Anyone have any experience on these?

Any advice would be much appreciated.............

I need some new boots all round on my 4-motion 204 .
Problem seems to be that the original spec wheels and tyres are a size that gives few options; they are
255 45 18 (103Y).
I need All Season, Michelin don't do in this size, nor Nokian weatherproof. Only one I can find are Bridgestone Weather Control, pretty expensive. Question to all you knowledgeable members out there is:, Is there another size that's more available that will comfortably fit these Rims ?
Thanks for any views.

235/55/18 offers a lot more choice; slightly larger tyre ( around 11mm more side wall rubber), fill the arches much better than oem sizes imo.

Thanks chriscroft and mulacs for the info.
Been away, only just picked this up. Last time I looked, Weather control Bridgestones in 255 45 18 were around £142 from Tyreleader. Cheaper than other Net suppliers.
Haven't replaced mine yet. Chriscroft has me considering the 235 55 route. Won't foul the wheel arches on full spring compression will they? Am I right in thinking it will result in speedo and mileage under reading by about 5%?

I recently bought a 2016 T6 4motion with 16 inch Claytons, which I wasn't keen on. After doing a lot of research on here I replaced them with 18 inch steel rims and Nokian Weatherproofs in 235/55/18. They are a great tyre, particularly in the wet, and they don't rub or foul the arches in any circumstances. My van isn't lowered and I have no spacers. The effect on gearing is not noticeable.
I got the tyres from tyreleader at £105 each delivered and paid my local garage £8 per tyre to balance and fit them.
