AdBlue Newbie

Ok - don't shout at me - just telling you what the dealer told me - and I'm sure it is bs, but just in case....
He said, don't get the crap stuff from Halfords or cheap stuff online. Only use VW adblue. I did question him but he was adamant there is a difference. Can't see how or why, except in price.
I live a fair distance from this dealer and they knew I wouldn't be going to them for services etc, so they didn't have anything to gain directly from me even if I did follow their advice and only buy from VW.

Do you think it is bs also?
Absolute BS. Did he try to sell you a Betamax video player by any chance?
I buy ad-blue from the pump at my local garage, I fill a 10litre container that was left empty on the forecourt by a pump. Some muppet had paid £29.99 for a 10 litre container poured it in & drove off. I took the empty container across to the adblue pump & filled it up for 60p/litre, go figure. I’ve used it in our van, our second car, a Skoda yeti, the daughter’s Audi & the son in laws Beemer. AFAIK there are only 2 adblue producers in the country. I’m sure VW doesn’t own one of them, just the same as it doesn’t own an oil refinery that produces the Quantum oil.

Nice one. I thought as much but I couldn't figure out what he had to gain by telling me that.

There is an Adblue manufacturer near to where I live in High Peak called Quality Urea Solutions. Every time I drive past it looks like they mostly distribute in 1000l plastic containers. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who works there to top up any 10l containers :)
