AdBlue Software Update from Dealership.

Right on cue, I got the "Inspection due in 28 days" alert when I switched on today so time to get it booked in and see if they'll agree not to do it

DOH, bet you are blaming me now for this thread, (ducks for cover)

My guys were fine & understood when I said I wanted to wait & see what happened in the real world to the ones who have gone for it. No affect on warranty or future issues

So my Adblue warning went straight to the 650 mile warning on my 2018 DSG Kombi without any previous warning. Topped up with exactly 8.25 litres as per the MFD, ignition on for 30 secs but warning is still there.

Am I correct in thinking that VW assist will come to my house even though my Kombi will still move ( for the time being anyway)?

Yes . . . if you are withing the 36 month warranty/VW assist period.

Nice man from VW assist came yesterday, plugged in his PC which said I had over filled the Adblue tank. It was reading 14.8 litres but then said the tank is only 13 litres.
He took out 2 litres and after a while and numerous engine starts got the reading down to 12.8 litres which then reset the warning.
He explained that the system uses a light at the top of the filler to measure the ullage and therefore calculate the miles remaining but in his opinion it's not a good system and VW should have used a simple float system.
I still think there's a fault somewhere as it shouldn't have gone straight to 650 miles.
I know there are plenty of people who have no problems with their Adblue top ups but his advice was to add just 6 litres when the first warning comes up, that way it should never over fill but it'll be enough to register a top up.

Hi all, apparently there is a new recall for certain t6's , new software update effecting regens and adblu usage??

My was done last year and all adblue faults i was getting disappeared. Apparently not dosing enough. I had to sign paper work stating something about my driving style and adblue usage.m They gave me8 free refills.

I didnt get any faults prior to the recall but got mine done over crimbo. I've noticed no difference in the 1500 or so miles I've done since. In fact I got my best mpg of 38.

I wouldn't expect there to be any effect on fuel economy as AdBlue is injected after fuel-burning process has happened.

Yes, I get that.
Apparently it's a "big" update, and took them a long time to download / install.
Just wonder if anything else altered?
Anyway, it cha ged my van from being a world of hassle that I was in process of rejecting, to a brilliant van that's ad reliable as my previous t5 / 5.1.

Never experienced a recall so I dont know how this works, how do you get to know if your van is recalled?
Do they use your VW assist details to contact you? Just thinking a Hillside van comes via the importer, a van centre,
and a converter before joe public becomes the owner - do VW keep up and actively locate affected vans? ;)

Some campaigns are classed a field campaign and are not safety-related, so are just carried out as and when a dealer or Assist person sees your vehicle.

Any out there that can answer my previous question?
Quick answer.. Id expect to have to pay...while under warranty the costs are recouped from Vw ..but after unless subject to recall the dealer has To bear the costs ..so you pay...but if your van was serviced by them and they missed the update then try and haggle...
nothing is free in life :(

I don’t know whether it’s chargeable but I rang two dealers on Friday. Both said mine wasn’t due a routine Adblue update. One said if they looked at it, they may decide one was necessary. Didn’t get onto costs though.

2017 102PS.

Hi everyone just an update on adblue. Today had the van in for a EML light that came on the weekend as I was driving back from London. Needed a software update for the adblue good service they only charged me £60. As I was out of warranty they told me we should be charging you £120 but your a good customer. Happy days :)
