Non-Dealer Servicing during Warranty period

Hi all after a bit of advice.
My 2017 150hp T6 Campervan was serviced on 24/5/18 at 5k miles before I bought it . It now has 7.5k miles on it and the service indicator shows it needing an inspection service in 33 days.
Am I interpreting that correctly ? I don’t want to invalidate the warranty.

Secondly if it does need a service any recommendations for competent garages in the Milton Keynes or Leighton Buzzard area
Thanks

You are interpreting it correctly, but may find that a dealer would simply reset it, and (correctly) say that it doesn’t need an inspection just yet. A lot of us have issue - the service is undertaken and the service schedule reset, but the inspection schedule isn’t.

As for recommendations, see this message from @Sabre on another thread asking a similar question:
Hi Panda, cool pic by the way.
I have been taking my Golf to Inde Tech in Bletchley for 10 years. Ryan will answer the phone, he's a great guy. Just told them about the van so they will be doing the first service and looking after the van from now on.
They are excellent. Linked into the VW network, all ex VW engineers and only do VW group vehicles.

That's the outcome of service counter in the van's computer.

Most likely the van has been set to follow service regime "QI8".

Thanks for the replies.
Regarding the dealer deciding just to reset I am a bit uncomfortable with an indie doing that because of the warranty. Wouldn’t it have to be a VW franchised dealer in order to not invalidate the warranty if there were problems in the future?

Hi @Pete Ellyard , Inde Tech are superb. They are now servicing my van as well as looking after my golf mk4. I will recommend these guys any day. Give them a call.

Hi Pete,
Inde Tech are also on the dealer network so can do warranty repairs etc. I've taken the van straight to them. Not messing around with the open wallet surgery from the VW dealer.
Call them, Ryan will explain it to you.

Pete

How often does a T6 need to be serviced.... I was under the impression that it’s two years or 20,000 miles.... my T6 was serviced this time last year however it says service due in 24 days???
I haven’t done 20,000 miles?

I’m still getting a ticking noise when in gear (it disappears when I dip the clutch or take my foot of the accelerator... it’s a worry as the warranty runs out in December... Iv had it back a few times but they say they can’t hear anything? A passenger got in my van and asked me what that ticking noise was... so I know it’s not just me hearing things.

I'm having van booked into VW as the message came up on the display:

Oil Service 11800mi / 13 days
Inspection 19400mi / 378 days

Is this going to be a full service, interim service or an 'oil service'?

VW seem to say its an interim service.

Is it?

Make sure they do not helpfully top it up with ad-blue for you, i left my van in for its first oil change they said they put 12 liters of ad-blue at £1,50 a liter without asking me. There must be a big tank, as i had put 10 liters in the week before.

Took van in this morning. Dealers had a T6.1 in there in Ascot Grey. Looked really nice colour :)

Booking my T6 in for it’s 1st service - 2 years old with 10K miles on the clock and no probs. Camper conversion 4 motion manual with diff lock and underslung LPG tank.

I assume I ask for a full service and oil/filter change? Does the diff lock need any particular attention service-wise? I will of course ask them not to wash/wax it since my wife’s had this done and has come back scuffed...

Cheers, Ian.

Hi I’ve booked my van for a mot and cambelt change at an independent vag specialist who I’ve used for years with my caddy! Question is I’ve got an extended warranty the cambelt is all genuine parts but what about filters etc do they need to be genuine to keep warranty intact?

I suspect the answer is yes or else you give VW something to argue over in event of a claim on the warranty. IMHO, for the smaller value items like filters, it's probably not worth taking the chance. Just my view!

I agree - err on the side of caution!

All parts need to be Genuine.... Or they could refuse warranty claims.

Appreciate response guys to be honest that’s what independent garage recommended and I agreed was more of a query to how stringent vw was against warranty as never had a warranty with them before
