Aftermarket heated seats

What was your final outcome with your heated seats,as I’ve got the same OEM seats and connector as yours and want wire it up to my own controls
I just got a heated seat kit and only used the wiring loom and relay.
It’s pretty straight forward as just 2 wires to the seat and then run it back to the fuse board and find a switched live to wire to or piggyback. I found that the fuse for the heated seat on mine was live so didn’t need to piggyback a fuse.
I cut off the connection block from the seat and re used The one from the kit I got.
I put it off for weeks as I was unsure but it only took a about 2 hours to sort.

Cheers Dave for the fast response and photos,
A couple of questions if you don’t mind....
1...does the high & low function on the switch work with these elements?,did you have separate the 2 elements,ie both wired in parallel for high setting and both connected in series for low heat setting?
2...what is the 3rd wire for in the end connector(as per your original post, pre install)?,the smaller out of the 3 wires and what did you do with this wire?
3...where and what kit did you purchase for switches loom relay etc

TIA

Regards

I am no expert but will try and answer your questions.
1, I put it on high to heat up then drop to low. I keep meaning to check with a multi meter to see if I have a flow on low but haven’t hit around to it.
2, no idea it just works
3, if you are referring to the 3rd wire out of the seat it’s for the thermostat which you would have in a factory heated seat setup. I just taped it out of the way. You could possibly get a kit that would allow you to use it if do that would be a better kit.
4 I just got the kit online there Re lots but as I was only using the wiring and relay I just event cheep .
I assume you have the genuine seats that are already wired and you are just looking to connect them up.

I am going to put heated seats in my new crafter so I am thinking of taking the cheaper wiring and switch kit from my camper and putting in the crafter.
I got this kit a while back which I think will work better as it has a rotating heater switch so more heating options.
It has a big block which wasn’t on the last one and I assumed it’s for the variable heating dial.

Just looking at the new kit and realised it has a extra wire that is also fused and it is labelled ON wire ?
Any ideas out there?.

Yes have connected up my new caravelle seats to a battery, and they are pulling 70Watts that they are designed for!
It would be interesting Dave if you put your heated seats on the low setting to start,to see if they come on at all?
I’m going to wire mine up through latching relays and use oem momentary switches in the dash to use 2 of blanks to the right of the gear stick, push on...push off

I’m assuming the thicker cable is permanent live, and ‘on wire’ is connected to an ignition live so you can only use the seats with engine running!.

My set up is going to be very similar, ignition supply feeding my relays while the load live will be wired to my Leisure battery

I only had 2 wires on the one I have live and ground I connected the live to a switch live so will only be on with ignition.
Why do I have a live and a switch live on the new one is it something to do with it being a graduating temp control instead of just a hi low switch?.
I put them on low and the light is green and they are heating.

Can I help with this. I've retro fitted genuine heated seats.
Regards.
Edd.

You have to strip the seats to fit the pad, find a suitable place for the switch and obviously supply power.

Has anyone fitted aftermarket heated seats?
I get my California captain seats back from being re trimmed this week and have asked the trimmer to fit heated pads into them while he's doing it
So when I get them back they will need connecting up, I know it's too big a job to use the oem heated seat buttons on the heater controls so wondered what anyone else has done....and is it a simple job?
