Aftermarket heated seats

We fit the Waeco kit, and put the button on the inside seat plastics at the front

That's where I was thinking of putting them
Don't suppose any of the cables under the passenger seat can be used to power them can they?
Or would that be too easy?

I spoke to plush automative and they reckon they can get it all working off the factory buttons in the dash.

Yes, I've seen a few threads on here where people have done it, but it's not an easy job by sound of it
I'll be happy with a separate switch on seat base or somewhere on dash

Has anyone fitted aftermarket heated seats?
I get my California captain seats back from being re trimmed this week and have asked the trimmer to fit heated pads into them while he's doing it
So when I get them back they will need connecting up, I know it's too big a job to use the oem heated seat buttons on the heater controls so wondered what anyone else has done....and is it a simple job?

Which heated seat kit have they fitted?.
My seats are due to be recovered in December by Mid England Retrims and I would like them to be heated.
I am also going to get tge rear seats heated aswell, but dont know which kit to go for.
Cheers.

Not sure which kit he used
I'm picking them up on Friday so will ask then
He said if I had them done at the time of re trimming it's £80 per seat so thought it's daft not to

Interestingly, my guy told me exactly the same, but I'm sure he said that was just for the heating pads so did wonder if he will be fitting genuine heating pads which would mean I would have to try and power and control them somehow.

That £80 per seat is just for supplying & fitting the pads, I'll have to connect them myself - or get someone to do it for me
Only thing I was concerned about was if I fit the switches on the seat bases - would it affect the swivel?
Electrics aren't my speciality so might get someone who knows what's what

Ah, as I thought.

I'm sure those heat pads will need more than just a 12 volt power supply and a switch to make them work, (although I stand to be corrected), and usually need some sort of heat controller, as doubt, being multistage, that they just have simple thermistas in them to control the heat.

I'll be really interested if your thread sheds any light on this.

Cheers.

Ok, I'll let you know when I pick them up
I think they'll have a switch that you press once for low heat, twice for high heat & again for off
Or a rocker, similar to this

Hopefully the trimmer will avoid this happening.

If the switch is in the wrong place it can foul the fore / aft adjustment. This happened to me and the trimmer completely missed it as they didn't have the seats in the van when they drilled the hole.

The fixed it, with new side panels but it was a pain in the a%se and took the shine of the re-trim.

Basically if you are forward and high on the plastic, its fine :)

Thanks, will bear that in mind
My trimmer is just leaving the wires hanging out the bottom for me to sort so will avoid that

So .....got my re trimmed seats back last week with the heated pads fitted and ready to connect up

Electrics aren't my thing at all so am going to get someone who knows what they're doing to wire them up
Phoned 2 mobile auto electricians that didn't really want to do the job as they both said they only really do repairs - not installs, so took it to a local garage for a quote and they said 4hrs labour @ £60ph!!......don't fancy paying another £240 on top of the £2k I've already paid for the seats
So unless I can get the price down a bit I'm gonna have to make do with long John's this winter

Ouch! That’s a whack of money to fork out on top of a return!
I’d like to think that there is enough expertise on this forum to contribute real guidance for a DIY attempt. Why not propose pulling together a “How to...” guide with pics from doing the job and see how it is possible to harness the power of the forum? Remember, guides are only available to VIP members, so it is a “give back” opportunity!
Am I just naive and guilty of fanciful thinking?!!

Hi guys. I wired mine in myself and was a very simple job. I would say it probably took around 2.5/3 hrs but it was my first attempt at it. Put my switch in to the base of the passenger seat so it’s easy to see and reach while driving.

Thanks Rich and well done. What a pity you won’t be able to post pics. Do your seats swivel? I will take some pics of my factory fit heated seats
