Alarm Movement Sensor - disabling for sleeping / leaving dogs / windows ajar [thread merge]

@Spaghettiboy78 Just got around to checking my manual lock/unlock button. Mine is definitely coded to lock ALL doors, just tested with the windows down and I could not open any doors.

Yes, the rocker switch on the driver’s door will lock all the doors. What I was referring to is manually pushing the lock pins down on the driver’s and passenger door, and then the button on the slider.

Could you add another locking switch (like the one on the drivers door) elsewhere in the vehicle by piggybacking off of its wires?

I believe you can. There’s a thread somewhere about it. I seem to recall it has a resistor value one way and a different one the other way, therefore using only 2 wires to do the job.

That’s not the post about adding a internal tailgate switch, is it? If not then cheers, as having another would help when the bed is out and the seats are swivelled

No, it’s the lock/unlock rocker on the driver’s door. I’d like to fit one but haven’t got round to it. You’d only really need a “lock” option in the back anyway as you could double pull to open.

If you mean the drivers door lock/unlock button i have seen that, one side is straight switch, the other side applies a resistor to the same terminals
This is the reason its tricky to relocate this button as additional wiring can affect the circuit resistance and throw the value outside the threshold the BCM will accept, i think its possible and cant see a couple metres of cable would significantly affect the resistance enough to upset the BCM but if it does an additional resistor wired in parallel could possibly be used to bring it back to acceptable value ??

I believe you can just tap into the tailgate handle and run a momentary switch in parallel to make an internal tailgate switch.

Theres a few posts about this now, i have some of the required resistors kicking around somewhere in the workshop they are pennies
Just need a cable back to the existing switch or tag onto the cable in the dash

The link Pauly highlights worked a treat.

I added an additional toggle switch in the b piller next to the sliding door handle.

I think by trial and error, we discovered that pushing the lock button TWICE on the key fob seems to lock the van but disable the alarm.

But like others, we don't lock it on a campsite - only when wild.

You can risk locking yourself out with this method. we use the lock/unlock button on the inside of the driver's door when sleeping.

A second remote "lock press" also disables the DEAD LOCKING.

Sorry but am I missing a trick here.....
Push the central locking button by the mirror adjuster... doors lock...take keys out of ignition and go to bed...
Red lights by the lock button don’t flash but all doors seem to be locked...no deadlock or alarm.

Sorry just reread....that’s for sleeping in the van......teaching the dog to use switch and take the keys out would be little like teaching SWMBO the difference between turn left or turn right at the next junction

This is the best method and the one I use.

The double press on the fob has a risk of locking yourself out.

What's wrong with the method that I use?

Unsure if deadlock is active but the alarm has never triggered.

Note: Key fob has never left my trouser pocket since I used it to unlock the van from the outside therefore the key is not in the ignition when I press the locking button.

Should I be using the Alby42 method?

That is the same method...
