All seasons roof + gps aerial

Hi guys, I’m a bit OCD but just noticed this week after nearly 2 years of ownership my all seasons conversion roof is in colder weather showing a small lump which is the front edge of the gps aerial underneath. I’m aware some converters relocate this or make a higher recess on the roof to allow for it. Has anyone else had this with their van? Are these roofs prone to big expansion when warm as it looks to me like it disappears when the roof is hot in sunlight! Maybe I’m just being too fussy!

I have an All Seasons conversion but can’t say I’ve noticed the issue you have. If I remember,I’ll have a look at mine in the morning as it’s forecast to be about 3 degrees.

Out of interest, how has the conversion held up over the 2 years? I’ve only had mine since April and have had a few issues with the lights and cupboard door knobs.

Mines been ok to be honest. I’ve put a few softeners behind cupboard doors to stop rattles and seat covers, rubber mats etc. came to realise quite quickly whilst it’s great making them look pleasing on the eye they need to be durable for use! The aerial rubs on the roof when driving and it drives me insane. I’ve put some thin tape on tonight to try and stop it.

Yeah. I’ve had to do that with the doors.

I assume that the pop top canvas hasn’t folded over the top of the aerial cover and so causing the issue?

You could always contact All Seasons as they give a 5 year guarantee on conversions.

Assume you got it from Durham?

Yeah Durham. No canvas is well clear. I’ve had a look with a torch tonight and the roof sits on top of the aerial when closed. If you check your aerial you may see where it rubs. I can see marks on mine. In a nutshell I think they’ve kept using their t6 roof mould rather than making a new one for a t6.1 to accommodate the aerial.

Not that it matters for your issue but be aware it's not a GPS antenna (that's in your door mirror) it's the primary LTE/4G antenna, see my post here (GPS labelled as GNSS):

So I’ve looked at this more closely and the roof is hitting the primary 4g antenna underneath. It creaks on bends etc drives me mad. I’m not sure how others with a t6.1 from all seasons or roof from pop tops/streamline aren’t having the same issue. The slight bulge disappears when the roof warms up guessing it’s expanding. Is there a way to adjust the scissor hinges to raise the front when closed ever so slightly? I’ve emailed all seasons to get their thoughts.

Just to update on this I noticed last night the roof wasn’t sitting flush at the back.. turns out the mattress on the bed upstairs is a little longer than the bed and collecting at the rear. Pulled it forward and it’s allowed the rear of the roof to sit correctly and is no longer rubbing on the antenna at the front! Nobody will be particularly arsed about this but I can assure you after months of creaking over bumpy roads it’s a massive relief haha.

FFS.. driven van today after being fine yesterday and it’s hitting the antenna again!! I can’t believe more people have not had this issue with a t6.1 and a pop tops/streamline roof. Awaiting all seasons coming back to me but I think the only solution is a thicker rubber seal around roof to keep it elevated above the antenna at the front. I know a lot of converters re locate the antenna.

I’m definitely not having this issue with an All Seasons conversion. Are you positive it’s the antenna housing? Why not put a round ball of blu tak or plasticine on top of the antenna and close the roof - any contact will leave a mark. Could it be the folding of the pop top at the front by the plastic window is fouling the antenna?

Having the same roof as you I’m hoping to help with a solution. Assume you are dealing with Andrew at All Seasons in Durham?

Hi Andrew calling me today hopefully. Done all of the above. When you drop the roof mine is dropping/resting on top of the aerial antenna at the front. You can actually hear it hitting. I can only presume the rubber seal around roof has shrunk in thickness or the roof has dropped. When I put some playdough on the aerial it was flattened to nothing.

Let me know how you get on with Andrew. I’ve had dealings with him when our van was brand new and had 30+ faults. Found him not very customer focused but got the issues fixed, some not to my standard.

So rolled some play dough tonight into a tube and stuck on the antenna now it’s evident where it’s hitting. Taking back to all seasons tomorrow as this can’t be right! Hoping they will help me sort.

No doubt something is touching.

Whilst washing mine yesterday (which is a LWB), I could feel a very slight “hump” where the aerial would be underneath so hoping I don’t have any issues in the future like you.

Good luck with All Seasons and let us know how you get on.

Jordan’s booked me in for 3rd oct (earliest slot) to have the roof looked at. Fingers crossed they can sort!

Quick Update: Collected van from All Seasons tonight after agreeing the best solution was to remove the antenna unit and fit a grommet.
After removal there is a little bit more wind noise but the roof shuts perfectly now and the cables are tucked under the roof. Still seems to connect the sos ok as that stays green.

Credit where it’s due Jordan got me straight in and van back next day without issue. Such an irritating issue finally resolved!
