There are a few people on this forum that really like Uniroyal Rain Sport 3.
Slightly bigger size, about 7.5% increase in rolling radius, and 25mm increase in radius.

I run the Rain Sport 3's on my Bus. Ok, it's the 18" sport line alloys but the tire performs fantastically in all road conditions. I previously had a set of them on my Mk2 Leon Cupra R where they did well even in comparison to Goodyear F1 Assymetricals i had on previously.

Blitz,
Have a look at the Cooper Zeon LTZ's. If they do the size and load rating go for these every time. I have had them on almost all my vehicles and they are excellent. Although the tread is quite aggresive they are quiet and last really well.
May be slightly too large for a T6 without a suspension lift/gear ratio change

Hi guys, quick question... I take it I could fit the 225/65/17 BFGoodrich AT to the standard Devonports until I get some steel wheels? I understand the possible insurance issues, the alteration to the speedometer etc and also that my California isn't 4Motion. I would just be doing it to help against some of the ever increasing brutal pot holes that are appearing but mainly because I just love the look of the T6s in full off road mode!

Yes absolutely, Devonports are great for the job.
To improve the looks no end, you may wish to consider some TUV approved wheel spacers such as HR+, they make a big difference to the stance, 25mm all round, or slightly larger on the rear if you wish (35mm or even 40mm)
You can also consider powder coating Devonports, gunmetal/anthracite/ graphite etc etc if you wish.

That's great. Thanks. Yeah I had thought about the powder coating! I've only ever seen the BFGs on steel wheels which I imagine would look the best but I'd just like to buy one of the things at a time and our front tyres are due for replacement soon. Ooooooo it's pretty damn exciting

Look forward to seeing the pictures:)
The BFG AT KO2 are very well reviewed for on and off road use, plus they have full 3MPSN winter use certification now, so good to go exploring anywhere. I read that the KO2 are lots better than the original BFG AT. Whats not to like!

Great tyre even if a little noisy...

Thanks Loz, Can you still do 70(ish) on the motorway or is it unbearable?
In my experience, they should be fine at 70mph, yes a bit more noise, but OK. As they get older and more worn, they will get noisier, so do what the yanks do, and swop them in the proper rotation, have them rebalanced, and get the hunter 4 wheel laser alignment regularly.
What can happen if the alignment is out, they wear on their edges and you get a saw tooth effect, which can be awful in terms of a drumming resonance.
Our local Kwik-Fit does a deal of 8 alignments for about £110 once only payment, over 2 years. using state of the art Hunter equipment. We have had problems with some AT tyres (double cab pick up) that have a HD rim protector beads, which precludes some of Hunter equipment fitting between the tyre and rim. But the top hunter equipment clamps onto the top/side of the tyre, and works fine with all types of tyres.

Yea exactly, feathering that’s what I got with them and noisier as they wear but hard as nails..

I would suspect 30k++ miles, you start off with around 15mm of tread I think (twice the 8mm of a standard tyre). On the American forums people talk about 50k miles!!!!!!

Oh nice. I also see they are available in 245 or 225 for the 17” wheels. I’m guessing 245 would be too wide and they’d rub when turning?

Sorry for all the questions, it’s just all very new to me

Vans a looking great - I'm also looking at fitting BFG AT KO2 to either:

Devonports (17in) Powder Coated
or
Rhino Warlord (18) (Black) - at the moment cost is an issue.

Question:

What is the maximum and minimum tyre size that I can get away with on a 17 and 18 inch rim?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

BFG AT KO2 225/65/17 would be as large as I would personally go, not due to width as 255's are fine width wise, its the diameter/rolling radius that starts to become more problematic.
the 225/65/17 are 4.8% larger than standard sizes.
So the gearing is upped by 4.8%; the wheel is 33mm larger in diameter; which is 16mm radius, so the van sits 16mm higher; the wheel arch gap is closed 16mm all the way around.
You can go upto about 7.5% larger, but the drivability of the van will start to suffer in terms of gear changing positions; acceleration etc etc.
Also with the larger tyre, you may not want to drop the van by more than 30mm, if you choose to drop it at all.
You may not need wheel spacer with the 225/65/17, but if you go larger you will need them because it will catch the inner plastic arch liner on full lock, or during larger suspension compressions.
For me it is 225/65/17 in the sizes available for BFG AT KO2's

WoW ! .... that entire selection of rims from Rhino is the mother of all 'Swamper' looks ... add those BFG tyres with white lettering and :cool::cool:

I never even need a 'Swamper' and actually need the opposite set-up for long distance motorway but it's still got my attention
