Another cracked screen.

I had a bad experience with autoglass on my golf so won't use them again, ever. Cost me to replace the bits the kn08-head lost from the window trims and vents. Autoglass didn't want to know.
I also prefer to go somewhere they can change your screen indoors... Cleaner environment, better chance for the glue to cure and bond.

Not sure, happened while on the dual carriageway but didn’t see or hear a stone hit.

I asked Autoglass if it would be a genuine VW screen and they said in order to have a genuine stamped screen, the reservation would have to be cancelled and they’d need approval from my insurer.

There must be pattern screens available now? Unless that was a standard response from a member of staff who isn’t a T6 enthusiast :cautious:

My van has a non OEM heated screen that was already fitted when I bought it.

So long as the heated windscreen works and the rain/light sensors can be fitted, I’m happy!

Mine also is a pattern screen replaced by auto glass looks & works exactly the same as the genuine Vw one & so far has lasted longer than the original as in it has withstanded a couple of stonechips Without Cracking

Windscreen cracked once again, literally on replacement day!

Two chaps from Autoglass came out, took great care fitting new panel and auto wiper/light sensors etc.

Did have manufacturer stamp bottom right, but not VW. Screen looks exactly the same and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Autoglass based on my experience!

I’ve joined the club after a stone thrown up from the the car in front on one of those awful poor excuses of resurfacing using chippings instead of asphalt.

My insurance has agreed to replace with an OEM screen but I had to specifically request this. I only have the choice of using autoglass via the insurance but I have also chosen to take it to a depot rather than have them fit on the drive. Replacement is tomorrow and fingers crossed they don’t do any damage. It took about 4 days for the screen to be delivered from VW as autoglass don’t stock OEM glass.

I’m just driving round with a cracked screen in my brand new van cba to fix it as it will only happen again.

Mine has an impact crack about the size of a 10p piece right in the drivers line of sight so I don’t really have much option other than replacement. I am tempted to get that clearplex protection installed on the new screen though.

The van is only a few months old and I wanted to make sure it would not cause issues with the sensors and warranty.

My van had a non OEM heated screen fitted when I bought it. Had no issues with light or rain sensors yet.

Huge stone hit the window on the way back from Devon last week, no apparent damage at the time
came back to the van today 8" crack across the bottom :(
Van is Just over a month old now needs a new screen ..gutted
Anyone had any luck with insurance companies fitting a OEM window and not some auto windscreen poop.?

Who's had the most new screens fitted ...go !

I had a windscreen replaced by auto windscreens as it was delivered new with scratch - the poop as you say has been perfectly fine, no issues with sensors and lasted 33,000 miles without a issue unlike all the ones I see which are OEM. I have also heard a few loud bangs as stones have hit it and its still going strong.

I'm about to have a new screen.... and it won't be an OEM one.
