Forever at this rateAh, OK. Every day's a school day... except the schools are shut.
Don’t worry....after a bit of home schooling they’ll be inhaling joints properly!Yep. Got one not at college and one not at school inhaling all the food out of the cupboards.
Absolutely! I had to reverse my twin-axle into the only bay left - between two proper artics! No problem! If it had been my 6’ trailer.....jeez, that skips about like an epileptic on Red Bull!Absolutely, I can reverse the caravan and put it pretty much where I want it. My 6ft trailer is another thing.......
I beat you to it on the caravan burning bit, you can have what’s left over when I’m out of matches. Destroying caravans is about the only thing I have in common with Jeremy Clarkson.Does anyone on here tow (reasonable size stuff) with a lowered van?
I have my new T32 booked in for KW Variant One coil overs (Which we be hopefully fitted when my bloomin van eventually arrives!)
The van will be towing boats of various sizes short distances for work, but in its leisure mode it will be tow a 2.2 ton boat once a year to France and also regularly tow my big old 1900kg twin axle monstrosity of a caravan! (Blame the wife - Cornish boy here/all caravans should be burned!!)
Whilst I am confident that the choice of coil over is good, i would like to lower 55 mm. Is that too far for a regular tow vehicle?
(The van thing is new to me!)
Well that's all very well, but I'm soon to be the owner of a new van and now living in Hampshire! I'm genuinely concerned that when visiting my family (Down the line ) with the new wheels this will lead to all sorts of issues with people looking at me as some sort of "outsider"!I beat you to it on the caravan burning bit, you can have what’s left over when I’m out of matches. Thanks for the reply. I saw your post, but like you my van is 8 foot wide, but a fair bit longer and heavier than your Alpina. The boat will be 9.2 meters from the hitch to the transom. This shouldn’t make much odds as the ball weight is a max of 95kg for the boat. How low is your van? Did you allow an extra bit of height at the back end when you set up your B14s?If you look back at my post you’ll see my caravan which is a single axle, but 1900kg’s and my bus which is lowered on B14’s, no issues towing at all.
Beware that the VW/Westfalia removeable towball has a limit (vertical load/nose weight) of 100kg’s, pretty sure the van itself also has a limit of 100kg’s max towball weight.

I’m really surprised at how level that looks. Very good. The van isn’t too shabby either!!!8ft wide is lovely inside, but not great on narrow Dorset roads, I've had a couple of near misses from wankers in lorries, 'might is right' and all that crap.
My B14's are at max height front and rear, I've got an ABT front splitter, any lower than my current settings and I wouldn't be able to get over any speed bumps. In fact my bus is off tomorrow for yet another splitter repair as I keep bashing the bloody thing. My caravan hitch and towball are almost perfectly aligned, I was expecting the caravan to look nose heavy or having to put on a longer swan neck towball, but it's the perfect level.
B14's do sag with age too, mine have been on for nearly 3 years and my tyres do rub on full lock, they never used too, I would guess they've dropped another 5mm or so over the time they've been on. They are not the only thing that droops with age, apparently

Excellent. Thanks that is really helpful.B14’s will give you a 40mm - 50mm drop if you just have them at their highest setting, at their lowest it’ll give you a 70mm - 80mm drop from factory.
Before B14’s on factory springs (T32) -
