I agree that if this were to have happened on the motorway it wouldn't have been ideal but vehicles break down and lose power on motorways daily and people can usually be relied upon to react appropriately so I do have to agree with those who think that you're putting it on a little thick with phrases like "potentially fatal" after all, lots of things have the potential to be fatal if the stars align, chalk it up to human error, be glad it was only a loose battery terminal and enjoy your life.Sorry you don't find this important. This may be a serious saftey concern for other new T6 owner. If this were to happen in the wrong traffic conditions this could potentially be fatal.
Wow, again everyone is missing the point. This was a heads up that's all. I just shared my experience that's all and got bearated for doing so. Yes, life is fatal no one is getting out of this alive and if you think so or not this could be tragic in the wrong conditions. As a health and safety rep we don't walk by when we see a potentially unsafe scenario so stupid me pointed it out. Again just trying to help someone from being in a similar position and letting people know a quick check. I guess you are all right and I should not have shared and let some other sucker get stuck somewhere. I was only trying to help. Yes, you've beat me. I won't post again. Main dealer and a 20 plate. Good byeI think its a little bit off @Jeff6667 that you say this could be fatal then hope it happens to @The Ham on the m25? Then went on to say he'd missed the point?
Chill out a bit.
Yes upsetting how it happened but could happen to any vehicle, obviously human error. Its how the supplying dealer sorts/compensates is the important part.
Was it from a main dealer? How old?
Nobody is missing the point other than you unfortunately.Wow, again everyone is missing the point. This was a heads up that's all. I’ve disconnected my battery recently and the start/stop didn’t work for some time. I assume the van needs to calculate the state of charge of the battery over a period before it’ll work. Mine took a hundred miles or so before the s/s worked again. This is what happened to me today.
Dear Sir,
I am absolutely furious. I was driving my T6 transporter today and it totally cut out on me at a set of busy traffic lights,Lodge causeway Bristol. After 10 minutes I managed to get someone to help me to push it to the side of the road. Everything was totally dead. Unfortunately I had left the details on how to get roadside assistance at home as the day before I was still looking through the user manual. I did try to contact the AA through their website but the app needed more information that I did not have to hand. I do however know someone in the AA who I called. He diagnosed the problem. The battery lead was loose. Find attached photo. Lucky for me I was not on the motorway in the 3rd lane when this happened as I may not have been here at all to complain.
I find it difficult to understand how this was not fitted properly. I spent £34,000 on this vehicle and would have thought it would have been fully inspected before I took charge of it. The inspection on the service schedule has also not been cleared so I wonder if all you did was polish it and sell it to me?
As a result of the sudden cut out of electricity the Stop/start assist has generated a fault and no longer works and all my data reference mileage and fuel consumption has gone.
I do have a recall and a service scheduled in December but I am not sure whether I should bring it to you just in case you forget to tighten something else.
This really is not good enough and this falls well below the standard I would expect from an organisation like yours.
