Camping Ideas and Tips

These came in really handy at Busfest this year where the showers are somewhat dubious!

The shower unit...

A foldable 20 litre bucket..

A shower tray, ours was pink/white..lovely!

A kettle of water added to about 15 litres of cold water in the foldy bucket, the whole assembly in our Cayman Can toilet/shower tent under the Outwell Touring Shelter Air.
The water temperature was clearly displayed on the submersible pump, 38 degrees was perfect, a genuinely pleasant shower experience in the comfort of our own vanspace!
Worked really well and takes up very little space.

Right - its 2025 - lets get this season underway.

what new Camping Ideas and Tips have we got?

we made a few purchases over the winter period, but they went straight into storage,

its now time to start dusting off the cobwebs and think about the year ahead.

+++

Easter Bank holiday (April) and Spring Bank holiday (May) are the traditional starts to the camping season.

though those of us lucky enough to have a camper van and heater setup can camp all year round.

+++

Easter bank holiday is only 7 weeks away.

My affordable plan for the season ahead will be to add the new induction version of the ridge monkey sandwich toaster to my gear. I’ll keep the original, but I’ll be able to use the new one on any cooking surface, not just gas like the original. That might be the best £39.99 I spend all season.
My less affordable tip is to upgrade your old AGM leisure electrics system to a monster lithium system so you can be truly independent for days off grid. We’re so looking forward to a camping season without worrying about electrics or the starter battery going flat.

Our first trip out this year is a week today (it’s been far too long)! Canterbury for a long weekend

The big purchase over winter was a cadac 2 cook 3
and stand
This should hopefully replace the big cadac and the other external cooking options and be easier to stow in the van

I got a new toaster:

A new light for the stove:

And I got a new peg mallet.
I only wanted a rubber mallet, I think I got a bit carried away

Exciting times!

Still waiting to test everything next weekend but I’m not sure if I’ll bother taking the cadac this time

Probably some other stuff that I’ve forgotten about!

Oh for god sake, I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread! I wanted an induction version of the ridge monkey last year! :rofl:

*Adds ANOTHER thing to the list of stuff to buy...

If you are interested I have some self install windbreaks for the side of your Cadac. They are £25 for the kit. These were made by @ GrimReaper from the Forum and many pepple have bought and installed a set.

I am one of those pepples! Super purchase! You'll need access to a Rivnut gun...

Cheers, I did see them but this came with little wind guards so I was going to see how effective they are
