Coronavirus Covid-19

I blame the left wing pricks at the BBC...

Lefties? Are you kidding me? the DG is a failed Tory MP. BBC News is front and centre in the right wing propaganda machine of the MSM, and yes, does have a lot to answer for, come the revolution , which will never happen, because look! Strictly's on, there's dingy in the channel, 6 BP garages in the south east shut last week.

I'd leave this tram smash tomorrow, but I can't anymore.

On a plus note: at least we've forgotten about our energy suppliers going bust last week! That of course was down to the world wide gas price rises, that funnily enough, only affected us:thumbsdown:

Think you'd find that most of Europe at the very least are suffering big rises....

It’s so hilarious they come out of the woodwork when there’s any failing and put the blame squarely on “them Scum”
How easily they’re manipulated by the media :mexican wave::mexican wave:

Although it won't bother Mrs Merkel too much - they still burn lignite in 30% of their power stations and won't commit to stopping until 2038. They opened a new coal fired power station last year, taking the number to about 30. (We have just 3).

Gas prices are certainly spiking across Europe. We are in a particularly bad position with regard to management of short term supply and pricing however because we have no more than a week's worth of gas storage capacity, whereas countries such as Germany and France have something more like 3 months worth of storage capacity. We closed down our largest capacity storage facility in 2017.

It maybe partly due to our heavy reliance on tanker imported LNG, talking ships not road haulage.
Loaded tankers (VLCC and LNG) will sit at anchor and wait for the market prices to respond before completing their journey.

So I'll ask the question, what has happened in the last year or so that all of these worldwide/euro wide problems, are having a much greater impact on the UK than anywhere else? Could it be the very negative impact of the B word? or that "project fear" may have had some relevance?

Any hoo, we are getting a tad political, and the growns ups don't like it, so we better quieten down.

Well at the first sniff of a recession the oil and gas industry fires as many people as possible (many contracts are based offshore with zero employment laws).
They then stop all exploration budgets, stop new build ships and platforms where possible, cancel contracts with third parties, cancel maintenance and stack ships and platforms.
All of these processes are not quick to return to normal, it’s the same every time around and they rarely learn the lessons. The main reason being that $$$ involved are staggering, shareholders are greedy and the managers providing the statistics are only interested in the end of month or end of quarter figures.
As for the UK specific problem; apart from the possibility that we are a bunch of worrying, pessimistic and sometimes gullible fools who read to much into the latest media sensation we also have a COP26 Conference in Glasgow in November, it’s good to have a few excuses to carry on drilling.

This is no joke! The son of a good friend of mine recently joined the police force! Was called to a petrol station on Sunday as a lady was trying to fill her wheelie bin up with petrol! She kicked off when attendant stopped the pump when realising what she was doing!! Crazy

They just want to be upset and cry off doing anything. Ooooh my mental health is damaged because I have to stay home. You can't tell me I'm rubbish at my job because that's mental abuse... I didn't win because it's just about taking part and it was hard...
Get over it. It's a tough world.
