Coronavirus Covid-19

Just a thought but are you suggesting transporting people for free to Australia only I'm just looking for my walking boots and seeking confirmation that the island isn't Canvey this time around?

That’s an idea...Essex.....make em listen to Olly Murs all day....beats waterboarding

While NHS staff are still having to use crowded tube trains to go to and from work its hard to see how walkers on the Peak District are such a high priority if we apply rational thought.

I'd like to see all people using public transport have to show some form of proof that they are a key worker, for example an NHS ID card.
That might make our NHS staff a bit safer, something I think we'd all want to see.

The thing is, government advise, is if you can`t work from home, you can travel to and from work.
While that`s the advise being given out, the trains and tube will be packed, with people traveling to and from work.
If the advice was, everyone except key key workers must stay at home, and they shut all construction sites, there would be a dramatic drop in people on public transport.
As usual, its all down to money....

Don’t forget that they have reduced the number of trains due to staff shortages. Given the working population of London, it could be that the vast majority of people travelling at peak times are key workers.

It seems that the goodwill for the NHS is starting to dry up.
Twice my wife has tried to go shopping over the last couple of days after her shift and twice she's been told she has to stand and wait with everyone else now, due to too many customers complaining the they have to stand and wait, whist NHS are walking straight to the front and flashing ID and walking inside.
What these people fail to realise is that where my wife shops, there is a totally cordoned off section for the NHS, so they are not at risk from other members of the public. They don't just flash their badges and grab everything they can fit in their trollies, just what they need.
We are trying to cut the risk down by just 1 member of our family going shopping, simply because that member is out anyway, now it looks like we have to break that and I will have to go out and line up like the rest of the public, which I don't have a problem with, but kind of defeats the whole purpose of these measures.

NHS workers should be given Vouchers or travel card or use contact less card receipts to use Black Cabs... and claim it back .. the cabs already have a dividing screen between driver and passenger would be the way to go keeping them safe and less claims in the taxi loss of earnings. they already battling with UBA cars .

most of the train users would surely be Key workers just crammed onto less trains .... no point traveling when all the shops are closed in the cities.

There's a lot of people who cant just work from Home out there for many reasons... its not their fault if they got to work but they just need to take all the
precautions

Building sites need to stay open the penalties for missing non completion dates would destroy most companies in fines .. where does the line get drawn

remember this Virus did't just appear over night just the 1st reported case was released ... no-one else had been checked for it till then and how many people traveled on the planes the week or 2 before before it was announced. could of been spread weeks or months ago.

That's very sad to hear. Unfortunately there are some selfish people out there who just can't see the bigger picture and put other people's needs ahead of their own.

It doesn't work for everyone, but we are food shopping exclusively on line at the moment. We typically do so anyway, but pop out for the odd thing now and again at the local butcher etc. We've stopped the popping out and now rely 100% on delivery. We use Tesco and they have recently added a large number of additional delivery slots meaning we have been able to get shopping delivered once a week. They've limited the total number of items you can buy for 1 delivery and the same max qty of each item applies as it does in store, in an effort to get more to more people.

It doesn't suit everyone, but perhaps it's worth looking into?
