Coronavirus Covid-19

That's very sad to hear. Unfortunately there are some selfish people out there who just can't see the bigger picture and put other people's needs ahead of their own.

It doesn't work for everyone, but we are food shopping exclusively on line at the moment. We typically do so anyway, but pop out for the odd thing now and again at the local butcher etc. We've stopped the popping out and now rely 100% on delivery. We use Tesco and they have recently added a large number of additional delivery slots meaning we have been able to get shopping delivered once a week. They've limited the total number of items you can buy for 1 delivery and the same max qty of each item applies as it does in store, in an effort to get more to more people.

It doesn't suit everyone, but perhaps it's worth looking into?

Knowing how rural you are Chris, the deliveries might be a bit more frequent to you guys, but here in Leicester, the reality is still a 3 week wait for any slot with any supermarket, I checked yesterday.

I think now they are only allowing a small number of people into all stores at any one time has had the effect that the lines are obviously much longer (my brother waited for nearly 2hrs this morning) but also people are not willing to stand and wait understandably, and coming back at more obscure times.
I'm sure this will eventually work itself out, I just get frustrated when my wife calls me up after a long shift saying she isn't waiting in a line for ages, again understandably.

There's selfish people out there
People who dont seem to give a f@@k about other people's space
People who dont see what all the fuss is about
My wife's got a cousin who normally is a complete tossa but now he's bragging about how much food he has when this all started to look a bit iffy he went out and bought 3 freezers and filled them to the brim bragging he's got 40 tins of bake beans and enough toilet roll to Last 6 months I can't bring myself to talk to him anymore
Sorry for the rant

It seems that the goodwill for the NHS is starting to dry up.
Twice my wife has tried to go shopping over the last couple of days after her shift and twice she's been told she has to stand and wait with everyone else now, due to too many customers complaining the they have to stand and wait, whist NHS are walking straight to the front and flashing ID and walking inside.
What these people fail to realise is that where my wife shops, there is a totally cordoned off section for the NHS, so they are not at risk from other members of the public. They don't just flash their badges and grab everything they can fit in their trollies, just what they need.
We are trying to cut the risk down by just 1 member of our family going shopping, simply because that member is out anyway, now it looks like we have to break that and I will have to go out and line up like the rest of the public, which I don't have a problem with, but kind of defeats the whole purpose of these measures.

Get you wife to ask for there National insurance number and strike them off the list.

They should be firs in the que.

I think we can all understand the frustration Paul, our NHS is an incredible institution at the best of times, they come in for some flack sometimes, but all things considered I think they do a great job. In the current climate they are more important and under more strain than ever before and we should be doing everything we can to support them and they should absolutely get priority.

The stores are trying to respect the social distancing instructions from government and maybe also cut down on the panic buyers filling trolley after trolley with anything they can get there hands on, but there has to be a compromise somewhere to make sure that priority staff get priority treatment. An hour each morning for various priority groups is no chuffing good if you're in the middle of a 12 hour shift at that time of day.

I don't have the answers, but I hope as a country we find them.

I can't see why our overstretched NHS staff should spend ages at the end of a long tough shift trying to save lives, standing for ages in a queue behind somebody who, for whatever reason, is not working and has time on their hands. Where are our national priorities?

They have started to close our local Tesco Express when they have to refill the shelves as customers were snatching goods off staff as they tried to restock shelves no social distancing

Popped to Asda today as the cupboards were running low and things seem to have calmed down a bit around here about 3 people in front of me to go in to the store..Everything i went in for i got including loads of reduced fresh foods (clearly the stores have overbought due to the panic shoppers) even picked up a 18pack of Andrex! hopefully if the trend continues around the country.

Same here today too.
Loads of space in the car park, so I decided to take a disabled spot, even though I am fit and healthy.
Barged past all the key workers in the queue, then ran around the fully replenished store like a mad man, aimlessly filling my oversized trolley with anything I could pull off the shelves.
There were some people standing miles apart near the checkouts, so I just went straight up to front, and started upacking next to the guy in front.
Paid in cash, then more running outside back to my disabled space.
There was not enough room in my sports car for every thing that I had bought, so I just pilled in what I could, then discarded the rest.
Fired up the V8, and pulled a massive burn out, right past all the fools standing in the queue.

Job done ! Might go again tomorrow.......

Amateur! You mean you only parked in one disabled space, why not across 2 or 3!;)

You ever considered moving to Leicester? I've got a lovely detached house for sale, double garage, big frontage, wet room, refitted kitchen and best of all, you will slot straight into this place like you've always lived here.

Win win. ;)

None of the key workers should be Queuing they have to work they don't really get a say in the matter. they cant pop and queue in at the shop in their lunch break.
why are the stores still so busy .... is it people are continuing doing a daily trips to the store or poor planning what they are buying Tesco did me proud delivered enough food to last well over a week if not 2. i go into lock down next week
