Dashcams And Fitting

Hi all,

just wondering if anyone can help

I've decided on getting a dash cam fitted. I'm looking to go for a Thinkware f800 front and rear.

Can anyone recommend a good installer in the Gloucestershire area???

I'd also like to know if anyone has an rear view camera connected to an electronic rear view mirror???

Thanks

I had a twin Sony camera (one looking back, one straight down) with an electronic mirror on my T5. The problem I had was that the monitor was just too low res (320 vertically if I remember) and it just wasn't clear enough for me. The other issue was that although the monitor was nominally 7" wide, if you had it set at that it was a stretched image that made judging positioning difficult. If you switched it to the correct 4:3 ratio you got a 5" wide screen in the middle which is just too small. This was 2015 so it depends on how much the mirror mounted monitors have improved in that time.

If you want the rear view camera for reversing you really need a separate camera. Mine cane with both, a high level wide angle one to record out the back and then another low one mounted by the number plate light that I can see my bumper with. This works perfectly adequately on the small rear view mirror monitor.

In a bizarre case of memory loss I've just realised I've also fitted a rear view (in fact all round) camera to the T6!

360 camera

In my defence, I still haven't got a stereo with a screen it can use and I don't often flip up the temporary screen from where it sits in the dash top cubby so I had forgotten about it.
