FitCamX Dashcam (power from rain sensor)

I just pulled mine across the headliner and down the B pillar after wrapping it in some anti rattle tape. There is a huge gap between the roof and headliner so no need to remove it, I just poked through some old plastic fuel line I had, then I pulled the plastic trim from the B pillar and went into the fusebox that’s there for my factory leisure battery / towing pack. It wasn’t a big job at all.
I don't have this particular kit but that's how I've wired mine. Loads of room to run a cable down to a piggyback fuse.

That's odd why is yours white the one I ordered for my t6.1 has a black casing.

Has anyone else fitted one of these with auto lights and got it working okay ? Mine won't be here for a few days so I can't tell if mine will work yet
I just fitted mine today with auto lights and all works as it should. It only took about 15 min to fit I will see how good it is in time!

Fitted mine now with the correct housing to the rain sensor using there splitter loom. However I now have a message “automatic headlamp fault” Indeed the auto headlamp function has stopped working. I have unplugged the camera and the auto headlamp works again. I’m thinking a hard wire would be a better plan. Has anyone used their hardwire kit? Where is the closest switched live?
Maybe not quite the closest, not much in it tbh, but deffo the easiest is across to then down the passanger pillar and under glove box to the fuse box.

Thank you, that’s the way I’ll be going. Just ordering the correct connector to save cutting into the dash cam splitter.

So I just ordered one online using the 10% discount code . £133 all good.

Then I get a mail from support below! I haven't got the van yet but I replied with it's a 2024 T6.1 as per my order. We'll see what happens

I initially received the same message. Their customer support is excellent. The tracking is also first class - takes around 10 days from China

Yes and yes. I also sent the part numbers of the existing mirror trim. If it helps they are two parts:
7LA 858 547 and 7LA 858 548 colour light grey

Ok I’ve replied this morning with I do not have the vehicle but it’s a 2024 T6.1 with light grey trim. They haven’t Caine back yet.

Hello everyone,
I haven't found anything about the Fitcamx in the German forum.
I have a T6.1 Cali Coast. Model year 23.
Does every vehicle have the rain sensor?
The HD2 6108 (black) would fit in my car.

Thanks and regards Axel

I'm sure all the highline models have auto headlights and rain sensors. Just pop the cover off you'll soon see the two cables, the rain sensor is the upper one.

Fitted my fitcamx this week and I'm very impressed, only took 10 minutes to fit.

Wondering if anyone has one off these as they look really good and the reviews on U tube are good too, a OEM looking dash cam that connects to the rain sensor power behind the rear view mirror and replaces the trim at the front for a camera, available fro most makes of car and van.
Just installed one of these and very pleased with it here is a link to how I installed it,

Thanks for the info.

I managed to find out that the lens is the Headlight Dipping Sensor. I contacted the company any they said there would be a cover developed for this in around 2 months, great service if it comes off!

Hi Mat,
Could you post an update when you receive yours please?
I'm wanting to order one, but when I asked on their chat for a photo of the model that works with the existing camera, the photo I got looked very much like a prototype, and much wider than the one on the website (pic attached), not as nice!
Thanks,
Andrew

What vehicle is that for?

That’s very interesting. My HBA is in a different position. I wasn’t aware that VW moved the camera lower down. Anyway I hope you get the FITCAMX set up.

Mine turned up last week and I got around to installing it last night. It is not like that at all and the same quality as the other two I have in other cars.

It is worth noting that I have found it very difficult to install in the transporter with HBA as there are lot of cables to feed through into the head lining if you spec the rear cam. Other cars I have done probably take minutes if that but the transporter has taken me about an hour.

The trick was to take the overhead light unit out and cut the webs out of the original cable channel so that there is room to feed them through at the top of the screen.
