Discover Media Touchscreen Fault

This thread discusses the issues with the screen

Since writing about part of the touchscreen not working, it has now escalated to none of the buttons working such as Navigation/Radio etc. I am left with one radio station that it happened to be on when the present fault occurred. As you can imagine it is very difficult to go back to the days before satnav. Perhaps, somebody has been in a similar situation and can throw some light on my predicament?

Have a search, there’s a company that fixes them for about £300, pretty sure they posted on here last week.
See this post @Carpinus:
Mines back working now - review here:

The right hand side of my touch screen no longer works on my Nov 2016 Generation 6 Caravelle. Also radio stations jumping about. Can anyone help?
The right side of my 2017 discover media has stopped working as of last night, no other issues (yet!)

I’m assuming I’ll need a new HU? If that’s the case I’ll be going aftermarket. Hopefully solving the poor DAB at the same time…

Thoughts and recommendations welcomed.

Thanks Paul

Personally, I don’t think the Disco unit was worth £320 when new, mine is sat on a dusty shelf in the garage.

My van is going in on Wednesday for yet another attempt by the dealer to fix the head unit. Usual symptoms, RHS of the screen unresponsive & "ghost" activation of the soft keys on the bottom of the screen. I've done a VCDS scan & its come up with the following fault. I'm assuming that it's a hardware "Mechanical Failure" fault that will require a new head unit. Fortunately it's just inside the extended warranty period. My question is, are my assumptions re; hardware fault correct? should I be fobbed off with another software update? (they've already done one & the fault has got worse) or am I in order pressing for a replacement head unit?
PS, I've searched both the forum & Ross Tech wiki & can't find any reference to the fault in question.

Lots of issues with the T6 touch screen between certain dates, it’s a know problem with suffix “C” or older units being affect (100% fail rate).
VW do not acknowledge the issue, but fortunately it can be rectified 100% .

Have a look at the threads contained in this thread: post two contains links to other threads

Touch screen and satnav problems

Hope the info may be able to persuade VW of the known problem and pay to have it fixed under warranty

With carplay, I have my icon bar on the RHS of the screen. None of the icons work except the bottom one.

Similarly in the VW menu, the back arrow top right of the screen doesn't work.

I've rebooted the unit and it's made no difference. Is there somewhere I can re calibrate the touch screen?

That’s how ours started, it gradually got worse until the unit became unusable. VW had several attempts to rectify it, software updates etc. eventually they replaced the unit.
