I had a couple show up as class 2, but you can go online and click on them for review and they get dropped to class 1 and you get a credit back on your next invoice.

That's a top tip ..... what's involved in the review process then @Loz

What do you have to prove and how ?
It’s all done on your account page, I’ll log on later and refresh my memory, there is nothing to prove, the report feature just points their team to take a look at the transactions and they will see that the ones you have reported have jumoed to class 2.

Hi, we are driving through France in a few weeks .What essentials do we need to take with us. The things I'm required to take by law Thanks in advance

From memory this is what we carry
Hi viz jacket - for one every occupant, breathalysers, spare prescription glasses (if you wear them), warning triangle, set of spare bulbs, first aid kit, insurance cert, original V5, disable speed camera alerts on satnav, headlight deflectors.
Think that’s it but please do check.

Didn't they end up dropping the breathalyser requirement in the end?
breathalysers do not carry a fine, even though they are a legal requirement. It was headlined as the new big road safety initiative by the French Government as it was saying for over 2 years that an 11 euro fine would be issued for non-compliance, but they have never actually brought the fine into force. They have finally decided that the fines for this offence are to be scrapped indefinitely.
So I guess you don’t need them but for the sake of a couple of quid and the chance of getting a jobsworth looking to give the ‘rosbeef’ a hard time.....

And you have to remember that such fines are instant and if you don't have the cash, the Police will escort you to the nearest cash point.

Why doesn't the UK do the same to foreign drivers?

I'm off to Le Mans from next Thursday, I got myself the AA French driving kit and a TAG for the toll booths.

I then started to think of worst case scenarios such as flat tyre/battery etc and got myself a decent VW/Audi puncture repair kit and one of those little lithium battery boosters.

Also considering taking my low profile trolley jack and breaker bar too. Boy Scout syndrome

I, like you, tend to worry and try to cover for every eventuality but I rang my insurer and asked how much to add breakdown insurance to my policy including Europe. As I am partway through my policy it only cost me £35 to add it and that covers me for everything including repatriation. Bit of a bargain I thought.

Yeah my insurers quoted similar, but not overly keen on a hairy arsed surly Frenchman dragging my bus up onto the back of a rusty old Renault tow truck to be honest
