Engine hissing on partial throttle, EGR deleted

Please do I’m having the exact same issue and your description is exactly as I’ve been describing ours. I plan to strip ours down tomorrow to see what can be found.

So they spent a good amount of time diagnosing the issue and couldn’t find a cause as there was no leak (lots of pressure testing, etc) and no errors. I’ve been advised to try vw for an ecu update to see if this solves it. I’m currently in discussions with my local vw van centre as they want to change £250 but I’m not willing to part with that for something that could be a vw fault. I’ll keep you updated but no definite answer yet frustratingly

Good to know thanks, I was already thinking it’s not worth a £250 punt! I’m going to try another avenue, I’ll report back with anything I find out

I will send you money if you manage to work this out as having the same problem. Done everything you have done including replacing some of the charge cooler pipes.

I've bought a dictaphone with external mic which I'm going to move around the engine bay to see if I can identify where it is loudest.

How did you get on with this?
I'm currently in discussions with VW as they won't do a software refresh/update if it's not 'needed' and because there are no errors showing they don't think there's a problem. Very annoying!

Any updates - just interested as to what those problems could be and I'm sure this thread will be handy to some peoples.

I took it to VW in the end and they can’t find anything wrong, they did an ecu flash free of charge, after charging me for the investigations which cost a chunk, but that made no difference either! I guess maybe a new/recon’d turbo might be the next move but I’m living with it for now as can’t afford one. If I eventually do that I’ll update

I’ve done a turbo made no difference after £1700 so in the same

Did anyone get to the bottom of this. Mine has the same issue, had egr deleted. Checked blanking plates and all fine. Tried to check as many hoses at possible and can’t see any problems. Mine also won’t go above 3000rpm when you boot it.
No codes popping up.
It’s doing my head in.
