EPB Retrofit ... the way to Stop & Go

I guess you are reffing to this?
I have used the AUTOHOLD switch and indicating LED for a different purpose.
Soon I will disclose publicly its functionality.

I have seen some auto-hold configurations in edc17 ecu, could it be useful for you ?
Thx, but right now i already have Semi Autohold working.
Meaning the DriveTrain is not getting Torque from Engine/DSG, thats simply archeaved with simulating 2 bit in EPB Message.
Only now ABS is not breaking, so car moves very very slowly forward or backward depending on ground level.
See here: car-tools/Semi-Autohold at master · dnoermann/car-tools

I've managed to get my setup working on the bench now with a 56D module, 3Q0 rear calipers and a 5G0 EPB switch (similar to 56D switch but white illumination).

Regarding signal to cluster, I'm thinking about the original way + EEPROM modification.
Does it need any modification to the cluster PCB or is an adjustment in EEPROM enough? I got a VDO cluster + VDO editor software.

Hi, I came across your very interesting post while looking for information on installing EPB. This is a little off topic. I’m wanting to fit EPB to a V8 trike. Just need on and off, no bells and whistles. Just need a way to cut the power to the motors when applied and released
I've got BMW series 5 callipers with 3 pin motor plugs. I’d appreciate your thoughts

Have a read below.
This might be a solution for you.

Hello all, my compliments for all the incredible work you’ve accomplished here! I’m coming at this topic from a somewhat different angle, and I wonder if you fine folks could lend a little insight:

I’ve got a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg — whose guts I swapped into a mk3 GTI chassis about 20 years ago — that I’m in the process of adding certain modern conveniences. I’ve got a DQ250 gearbox from a 2012 Golf TDI, which I will be installing in the coming months. With the DSG, I’d also like to install an EPB, ideally with Auto Hold, but basic parking brake functionality is my only requirement. I obviously don’t have ACC, and I doubt my ambitions are great enough to tackle that type of retrofit.

I’ve pulled a complete EPB system from a 2010 Passat Variant, including control unit (3C8907801E), Park switch (3C0927225C), Auto Hold button, complete wiring harness, and calipers with motors (I’ll post the part numbers when I get home). I expect I’ll need to acquire a different control module, but since I only want the basic functionality, maybe this will work fine?

Question 1: since my ABS control unit is a 20-plus-year-old mk60 with ASR (1C0907379D), I’m gonna assume that it’s an impossible project unless I replace the unit with something newer. Am I wrong? Would the mk60 be capable of accommodating this functionality? I saw someone in the thread had a mk60EC1, but that “EC1” seems significant.

Question 1a: Do any of you know what models of vehicle have an ABS unit that would play nicely with my ECU, instrument cluster, and this DSG ‘box?

Any other pitfalls you notice that I’m failing to consider?

Great Project :)
Upgrading to mk60EC1 ABS and getting a 56D EPB Unit, that can work.
But i have no clue if your car can be upgraded from MK60 to mk60EC1.
Can you provide a VCDS Autoscan for analysis please.

I did find this thread today, which makes the prospect look promising. For that version, I’ll at least need to change out the brake lines. Guess I’ll need to find out which vehicles came with that ABS unit. Or are there other ABS modules that could work for this purpose?

Is there a reason the 801E controller I’ve got won’t work? If I’m going to have to swap the ABS unit anyway, can’t I just pick one that does work with this EPB box? And disable the unnecessary features in coding?

Looks good.
When you install the MK60EC1 etz2k´s work in reversing the coding: MK60EC1 LBL will help you

The EPB you have is from Passat, if you want to use it you can install the Passat ABS.
But the Passat ABS does not support your CAR Type.
Theirfor the ABS does not have the Configuration Values needed for ESP, thinks like "Wheel Distance Front to Rear", Weight-Distribution and such stuff needed so that ESP can do its job and save your live.
The MK60EC1 does support a lot of cars including GOLF, at least Golf MK4 and that is nearer to your MK3 than any Passat

So this thread is giving me a semi.

Question: With the Audi rear calipers, did anyone explore fitting different carriers and larger discs (such as the 308mm fronts) to slide in a brake upgrade?
