External 240v hook-up options?

Thanks folks - plan was to use the window but wondered if anyone had found a secret route :)
You could use the vent panels under the rear bumper left and right hand sides at the bottom of the D pillars. Keep a short cable through the vent flap and coil it inside when not in use

I had the hookup brought from the back of the van to the engine bay and out from under the bonnet ( more good work by LA Paintworks Ampthill)

Hi @russ_e Don’t know if your sorted... but we decided not to convert the van ... but wanted when needed EHU ..so we adapted a Maypole cable reel and connect via engine bay to under seat then to the reel...so when not in use stored...the same setup allows you to use the cable/ reel in the tent ..so gives flexibility and no major installation problems :)

ps the red Anderson plug is for Solar... thats a whole new journey

pps ...On cold nights ( on hookup) use an 800w oil rad...nice and warm ( only £50 and no noise )

What size cable are people using for their 240v hook up cable from the van to site socket. 1.5mm or 2.5mm?

Most for sale seem to be 1.5mm, so just seeking views on what others use and why?

Mines 1.5 because its perfectly adequate for a 10amp max feed  nothing in the van approaches anywhere near 2.5kw ;)

I have a 25m 2.5mm hookup cable HO7RN rubber insulated. Overkill on the csa but you need the length sometimes on foreign campsites, & the large csa (cross sectional area) helps mitigate volt drop, especially with some of the campsite supplies which can struggle to deliver 200V never mind 230V. The HO7RN is way superior to PVC in UV stability, abrasion resistance & low temperature handleability (try rolling up a PVC cable at -10C). BUT, in answer to your question, 1.5mm should be fine in 99% of cases.

I left an entire 15m roll of arctic cable and attached male end connector under the bonnet behind the headlight, tidy space for it there. You don't need to find somewhere in the van to keep the extension lead this way either. No fittings required and just a 15m hook up extension lead purchased. I've taken the female connector end off the cable that runs into the cab via the DSG cable rubber mount to under the passenger seat ready to terminate to a Charger/Inverter.

Like this! Got a link to where you bought it?

Was away for 3 nights last week and destroyed a electricial cable running the mains in through the front door to run a heater and dehumidifier.

There's no way im cutting a standard hole in the side of the van as its not a camper and I don't want it to look like one, I already have a anderson socket under the light on the rear of the vehicle (passengers side) and I've got the rear heating along with lots of glue and carpet in the drivers side so no room there.

Only options I can think of are trying to make us of the add blue fill point (im EU5 so just blanked) or under the bonnet to get the power in. Once the power is in im not sure where id put the CU as under the passengers seat is full with lighting controllers and the factory second battery. Under the drives set is unused but im planning to put a Webasto under there so im a little flumexed.

Id like to have a pair of battery chargers / maintainers for the starter and leisure and a plug socket on the rear of each seat base for the heater and dehumidifier when used.

Any suggestions?
I've put mine in the rear quarter panel. No hiding just mounted it in the panel..

hookup under the bonnet the cable doesn’t get trapped with the bonnet closed. The consumer unit is in the rear of the van

Don't see any difference between this at 38 quid and one of these at a fraction of the price? Obviously the latter would need a decent cap to prevent moisture ingress Screenshot_20220204_150525_com.android.chrome.jpg

A m8 sent me a link to one that goes on the plastic arch liner, small thing but I can't find the link
