Fiamma f40...

Do you know the profile of the golf door shut seal? Did you buy precut PPF
I’d say it’s roughly about 12mm but squashes to around 5mm when it sits against the roof.
I got some off cut pieces of PPF from a local company that fit full kits. I initially approached them to fit something for me but with it being such a small easy area he just gave me a few bit to do it myself. As long as you have a squeegee it’s dead easy to apply as it’s all flat areas.

Could I rise this thread again and ask how people are getting on with there F40’s. I really don’t want the 45s with it hanging off the side due to it not being a camper and it’s not needed as a permanent fixture as its just for race weekends on the mtb etc I’m really just after a low profile and sleek design but also not wanting to ruin the van to what I’ve seen so far but does seem to be quite intermittent with some

I also presume it doesnt come with the brackets. I need it on the right hand side for the trailer I have and the way I can park it so I take brackets are on top also

So how is everyone getting along with it

Cheers all

Yes I understand and have read but all for the ppf as most of the van is done but just wanted to get some feel from others and there f40’s

I'm wondering how people are getting on with theirs too now that a few more years have passed. I really like the idea of it being removable as realistically I only need it on a couple weeks a year so the F40 seems perfect... Apart from the fact it rubs (maybe)!

Anyone else got one that they love/hate?

PS, Appreciate the info with the PPF etc but does the rain guard negate the need for it?

PPS, Would it work if I bought another set of brackets to use an additional one in the middle to stop the sagging? Or will that not work as there are no fixing points on the F40 itself?

There are no fixing points for the middle, I believe on current models there is a foam pad on the case in that area.

I'm still considering it but currently using a sun awning and stealthish rail in the roof gutter. We've not used it much as you need to peg it out and I do wonder if the F40 would more suit our ad-hoc gravel carpark use.

Mine was fitted by the previous owner in April 2018 and has the pad in the middle to stop the rubbing.

Haven't actually used it properly yet but it'll get some use this year.

I was thinking without the legs more as a temporary arrangement when the side door is open in inclement weather.

Would be much appreciated but please don't put yourself out if you've not tried as it's likely a next year purchase at this point.

Just tried it, probably less than 2 feet out (just enough to stand underneath if raining) and it was OK, but when moving it up and down slightly, as it would in any wind, all the movement was coming from flex in the mounting brackets - the arms are solidly mounted to the base of the awning.

It just started raining actually when I put it out and there was enough room to stand under and not get wet.

So, probably not a good idea to do regularly - tbh deploying the legs takes about 10 seconds, the only issue is that the front door would be blocked by one of the legs.

Edit: in the instructions it says only extend 50cm before putting the legs out, which seems about right.

Or do you mean it's been attached since 2018 and you've not seen any rubbing?
Has been attached since 2018, there's a physical gap between the awning and the van, apart from where the rubber is, so I'm confident there's zero rubbing. I can press down on it on the middle with a fair bit of pressure and it doesn't touch the van at all.

Ahh OK, that sounds more positive than what people were seeing before

Have any of you got the rain guard and does it make much of a difference? I'm thinking it's such low profile I'm not sure it's needed maybe?
