First van, first self build

Finally got round to finishing the inside panels. Covered in harrisons suedeliner which is a slightly darker grey than the roof which is more of a silver just in the hope it hides the inevitable dirt more. Fitted the brackets from vw to pull in the rear panels at the pillar. Hidden clips are great in theory but when it comes to it they can be a pain to align with the holes, especially in larger panels. Ignore the carpet, thats next on the to do list.

Next was a few nice little exterior mods. Tried to wrap the front badge but decided to just respray it body colour grey. Fitted new gloss black grill and led drls along with thq v3 headlights with HID's. Also done the chrome strip in the grill indium grey too. Didn't enjoy taking the bumper off so made sure to have all the parts so I could do it in a oner. Couple of broken clips but managed to get it all back on. Also got some matt trapezoid black side bars, kind of wish I went for the gloss black, oh well. Also fitted a carbon bumper protector as the old one was peeling off. Kind of the previous owner to apply it with silicone so half the paint came off with it!

Which hidden clips did you use?

Can't help there i'm afraid they were on the van when i got it. Tbh i would take them off but its scratched behind them so just leaving them as they are.

Got the altro fitted at the weekend and very happy with how its looking now. Its pretty thick to cut so did take a while with the Stanley blade but used the ply as a template which helped massively. Little tip I found was to use tape to fill in any gaps between the ply and the sides and it worked great. Altro is a perfect fit with no gaps so really happy. For anyone interested the altro is called veteran oak.

Really like the floor it looks great well done! What seating/bed you going for in the back?

I've ordered a van furniture sliding bed as I want to leave a space down the centre for my bike which I hope to mount on a sliding tray. Won't have passengers in the back so didn't see the need to fork out £1k+ on a rnr bed. I'll probably try and stain it with osmo of some sort to make the ply slightly more appealing on the eye. Then down the other side I hope to get some evomotion units, still to decide on the colour scheme though.

Look forward to see it come along!

This weekend was spent modding my vanfurniture sliding bed so it sits flush with the rear door so I get the maximum space for entry/exit on the sliding door. Its all held securely down with these threaded screws i found. Great for being able to easily remove the bed without leaving anything protruding from the floor. Once that was all sorted the altro was glued down. Also mid process of making a sliding tray for my bike. The logistics are a lot harder than I thought when I took into account I still wanted to be able to use the bed at full width without removing the tray.

Things have been going a bit slow lately due to waiting on parts arriving but finally got the solar panel fitted at the weekend. Was a bit of a pain having to take the roof back down to cut the hole and run the wiring but needs must unfortunately.
Was that busy concentrating and making sure I done it right I didn't really take any pictures of the stages I went through I'm afraid but here's some of the finished product.
Panel is a 160W photonic universe panel connected to a victron 75/15 mppt.
Van will be staying put for a few days until the sikaflex cures, don't want it flying off down the motorway.

Had some suckers lying around from my old window blinds so made up a little holder for my bike helmet. Needs a bit of refining to make it neater but you get the just of it I'm sure

Swellshades fitted over the weekend. Very easy to fit with 6x self tapers for each window. Just take a little time to line up the brackets but once that's done its just a case of clipping the blinds in. Was away at the weekend and can confirm they are fully blackout and also don't rattle at all while driving around
