Alittle (understatement) ####ed off.
When you spend best part of 10k on a @HiLo Roofs I do not expect there to be any form of duck tape(gaffer) hiding sh*t work!.
I would suggest that a solution is presented to me to rectify this before I get really on the case!.
There is absolutely no reason for this whats so ever..!!
I would like to invite other forum members to assist with getting this out of the production line..
If you can file/polish out the cut in the 'H' rail then you need to out source the work!. Looks like it has been butchered with a 4"grinder!!.

Not what I expect from this company, your not a new player..
I will leave it on this forum for 7 days.. failure to get this sorted will result in all social media all promotional adverts/posts being interrupted with bad press.. lets hope it doesn't get national.

@Fish I’ve just been notified of your post by @DaveyB . I haven’t had any notifications off this forum regarding your post until just now hence the delay in responding and we don’t appear to have received any prior communication from you at all regarding this issue? If you have contacted someone at HiLo regarding this issue, please can you advise who it was you spoke to and when so I can look into this ASAP.

When I ordered my @HiLo Roofs I was aware of this and requested(regardless of cost) to be rectified and paid for the 'H' rail to have an additional powder-coat..

Obviously customer service has failed again.

Regarding your comment above, I have checked through our records and there was no order for powder coated rails, so we haven't supplied them and nor have you been charged for them.

I’m sorry if you feel our customer service has failed, however I hope you can understand that when posts are started on social media, the person/company being posted about doesn’t necessarily receive notifications to make them aware. As always, if someone has any queries/ questions or complaints, we’d encourage them to contact us directly, either by phone or through our website, rather than risking them not seeing your post and people unfairly being given the impression that our customer service is poor as that can be very damaging to a business.

If you would like a representative from HiLo to call you to discuss this further, please PM me your phone number and I will ask the Workshop to call you today. Thanks, Kerri

I have to agree with @Fish here. The duct tape is a totally inadequate solution. The tape on my roof ripped as the installer was demonstrating how to operate the roof. It's purely there to cover up the cut marks where the upper channel is removed to enable you to take out the sliding hatch. IMO it's a bodge and I'd expect better on a product costing several thousand pounds.

My solution cost less than a fiver from B&Q. A length of 20mm L shaped silver plastic and some double sided tape.

I have just sims message Kerri and Mike.

My rails are in the van. Not fitted as yet.

Waiting for a reply.

@HiLo Roofs

Don't get me wrong, I still standby my previous posts, I feel that HiLo are the best roof (for its intended purpose; that being lowest profile) on the market. I would not hesitate in recommending the Hilo to members of this forum as well as any other Transporter owner (and have done this on many occasion). But.. for me, and others that have a HiLo, this is not an acceptable way to finish a high class roof system.

Someone at the factory should be saying to themselves, “this doesn’t look good enough! Does sticking 50p worth of tape on to this part of the system finish our high quality product in a manner that we think should be synonymous with our brand name? Why are we using tape when our customers are paying us £1000’s? We need to do this better! What can we do to make it better?”.

This is not a fitter/installation issue and solely on HiLo to sort or change their product for new customers.

You want to be best on the roof market.. and I want to have the best.!

@Deaky thank you mate, will look into this as a temp measure until resolved.

  • I am not after a selfish fix(yes, I want it resolved and no doubt that my:)whistle:) installer will correct this upon my next visit) for this posted issue nor am I here slating @HiLo Roofs

I am posting this to make others aware and for @HiLo Roofs to improve their quality assurance and deliver on thier reputation and expected standards.

I have been let down before by companies that I have recommended and will not let this happen again!

Yes, people make mistakes and errors happen.. but the fact that this poor and unaccepable finish has continued more than once, has to be changed for all that are concerned.

We could argue over wether I have been just in going direct to the forum.. but I feel that this needs to be addressed on a larger scale than just my bus, it needs to go back to the root cause..

I have not followed any promotional posts on Insta or tweeter etc with negative social posts or have I taken this to any other platform.. just the members, installers of this forum, who should be aware of this for their own builds/installs. I don't want to see other vans with the same problems and do nothing about it.. its not me!.

@HiLo Roofs Take it as a constructive criticism for you to look at this process and adjust it to improve.

I’ve had questionable workmanship/fitting etc in past and just recently. I wish someone had taken the time to leave a trail of posts on the companies I’ve used that aren’t all glowing reviews and highlighted the issues theyd had I could of looked for instead of finding out a few weeks and months down the line. I’m happy to see constructive criticism that will either get sorted out by suppliers/installers, or more often than not a fellow member adds their input and solution. Been watching this build for a while and love the work that’s been put in and attention to detail so feel for you @Fish when it’s not up to standard. Look forward to the next mods and updates

This is why this forum is so good.. its open and honest.. nobody wants to waste money nor do we want poor workmanship.. IMO.

I bought a cheap set of Draper trim tools from amazon.. not the best but have lasted and tackled what I use them for..

I have the same set, and i'd suggest if they've worked for what you've done, that should be on Drapers website as a testimonial, with a link to this thread, because that's far more work than most of these sets will see in a lifetime.

Hi Kerri. @HiLo Roofs
Thanks for the response following @DaveyB nudge.

This has obviously been discussed at HiLo so would like to know what solution will be for us and how this maybe rectified for the potential customers that are watching this thread.

Thanks.
Fish
