French 6 month visa - how we did it

I did ( a while back) have a few people ask about some notes about how we did this and finally below is a link to this.

IMPORTANT - our knowledge is from obtaining a visa using a French citizen to provide a certificate of lodging, but I have included some links to information that might help if this is not the case. The process and admin is the same in either case

Don't be put off by the length/apparent complication of this - this is our collated experience of doing it for 3 years now, and it is a heck of a lot easier 2nd and 3rd time round.

The visa is in addition to your 90 days, and is multiple entry so pretty handy.

Equally if anyone has obtained the visa by using a campsite address/details please let me know and I will update the guide.

There are a number of threads on motorhome forums which describe applying for the visa using the address of a campsite, so it seems it can be done.

Yeah, I read the thread on motorhome fun that is linked in @kipperman pdf. Looks like it’s pretty straightforward if using a camp site as an address to get the visa.
Something to consider for next year for us maybe, as you still get your 90 Schengen days after the visa finishes too.
