In my Kombi I've done Dynamat on the inside of the arches then carpet over the top and there is still a significant amount of rolling noise that resonates in the van (esp when I take the seats out).

@catfood12 I'm keen to do this mod when I change the break pads later this summer, having done this do you think theres any chance of moisture and dirt getting caught in there? Also have you done your bonnets? I'll want to find away to make it look neat without all the branding visible......

No chance of dirt or moisture getting stuck. There's a void between the plastic lining and the wheel arch, nothing to trap dirt or silt. When I took my lining off, it was all spotless behind, even the loom and bits. I'd have no concern in doing this.

I did all the sound deadening, and was happy with the result. Mine is a panel van, and a certain amount of noise is to be expected. This was improved with the Dynamat, but I've just replaced the tyres from a set of quite hard Accelera PHIs to a set of Goodyear Eagles, again quite a hard compound, and the noise reduction is far more than I achieved with the sound insulating work. I was quite astonished. The tyres have made far more of a difference in road noise than I expected.

Thanks for this - will give it a go as soon as I can.

I expect my Goodyear Cargo Vector 2 s are hard..... they last for about 35k and I usually get 40mpg so wont be changing them as I really rate them.

I think I will end up getting a set of Toluca 18s with some softer tyres on for the summer and keeping the good years for the winter months as they are M&S

Afternoon all,

Having searched here, there and everywhere can anyone recommend what I should use to sound deaden my doors, both the door panel and internal panel.

Any suggestions please

cheers

Pete

Cheers Oli, done the seals already. How many silent coats per door would I need?

Found these on Amazon

Silent coat

Which one is the best option for the doors Lee?

Or is the foam to go on the door skins and the silver mats on the inner doors?

Never done this before hence loads of questions.

have a look here, i used both.

as @BognorMotors says 2mm stuff on door carrier.

but i also added acoustic foam

Cheers Lee,

Did you use the silent coat on the doors skins also!

Small areas that I’ve found make a big difference;
1. Scuttle, I used 2mm Silent Coat butyl and Silent Coat 30mm Sound Buffler
2. Wheel arches, external, I used Dynamat Xtreme on steel and 10mm self adhesive foam on plastic liners.
3. Cab doors, I used Dynamat Xtreme on the door skins, inner door frame and 10mm self adhesive foam on the door cards.
Details on the Forum, very little added weight.

I was recommended to use Dynamat over Silentcoat as it has better adhesion properties. Certainly don’t want it dropping off near the window regulator.
Got what you got mate, never thought to do the wheel arches though.

Going to be atit forever now. Doors first though then they are done and I never have to remove the cards again
