H4 DRL Bulb upgrade

As mentioned by the others, both failing so soon is odd. I’ve had the Twenty20 DRLs fitted for about 14 months with no issues. Have you checked all the wiring, connections, fuses and the bulb holders (they are a known issue on early units)?

Thanks gents, I’ll look into it a bit deeper. I did think it was odd both going, it’s possible they could have failed a few days apart but unlikely. I did get the bulb out dash light on very soon after fitting them, but they were both working ok at that point.

How’s the voltage on your starter battery? I had a bulb warning soon after fitting the LED DRLs but it was caused by a low battery. Once charged it has never returned (14 months).

Just looked at this with Carista, got a short circuit to ground reading on both individual LEDs, does that mean they’ve failed, like a normal bulb? Also got a battery regulator message - Static current, upper limit exceeded, is that relevant? Thanks.

Not sure I’m afraid. Could that be a sign of failed bulb holders? Are they pre or post mod ones - they were updated in about 2018 I believe. Loads of info on here somewhere. Maybe try some standard bulbs and see if they work ok?

The van’s a 2019 but the lights are older, I think they are the old style holders. Odd that they both failed in a month. Maybe the heat from the twenty20’s? Too cold to be out there taking the bumper off at the moment.

Worth checking the holders then. The LEDs should run a lot cooler than the equivalent halogen bulbs.

Managed to get the drivers side DRL out today, bulb holder is perfect, twenty20 bulb is working fine, I put power through the bulb holder to test, polar is correct because they were working perfectly. Carista says fault code 02745 left daytime running lamp: short circuit to ground, and 02746 right daytime running lamp: short circuit to ground.
Scratching my head with this one, battery is fine. The fact that they have both stopped working and showing the same fault code suggests they are both on the same feed? Any help appreciated, thanks.
