Always ALWAYS ALWAYS do a scan before you change anything.
This will be a base to return to if anything goes wrong.

Goes without thinking Ed
Only said that as there was a post recently of someone who hadn't. When playing with the code I had all sorts going on with lights and things and the first scan was always a good base to reset things to.

You would think the VCDS platform would automatically scan & save before each session, would make sense I think.

If you was in a VW Dealership using the official system you would be trained and certified before being let loose on your own.

Also, you need to remember that when doing this change, the number is in binary so if you're not familiar with this, find an online calculator or similar before you start playing with the code.

Hello, you could show some example of how it is done, very grateful
Read this post as an example of how to use vcds.
How to Program folding mirrors - Pictogram
Then have a look at this example for byte 0byte0-explained.png
As you can see above, the long code (top row labled 1) ) has a pair of hex for each byte in row 3)
Click in the first box in row 3) and you will see the words “Byte 0” now arrow down with your keyboard until it reads “Byte 22” now look at row 3) for the pair of hex that is highlighted. This is the hex that must be edited, the hex character on the left needs to be reduced by 2 (D becomes B or C becomes A) etc.

Could someone tell me if it's possible to change the setting so the DRL stays on when you have the headlights on, even if they dim slightly and where I stand legally with them on with headlights, as the only info I can find just states goes off with headlights but is that a must or as a minimum?

Cheers in advance

I think law dictates that DRL’s should dim, as they may dazzle other road users at night. Don’t quote me, mind.

As for your coding query, I’m not sure.

I guess a Blue Peter method would be to swap over and use your sidelight feed for the DRL, as I’m sure you can code the sidelights to be always on with DRL’s, and (AFAIK) sidelights remain on with dipped and main beam.

I should really get my H7 lights coded before the events start to get dark, is this VCDS only or can Carista do it now?

I looked on the VCDS map and there don't seem to be many people near me (Chichester / W Sussex).

Not something you can do on Carista that I am aware of, and I have tried recently. Also need to get this done and am waiting for the friend of a mate who's mate knows someone who has an unlimited VCDS unit.....sigh.
I would buy VCDS myself but it seems like overkill to code the H7's and get my mirrors to fold on the key.

Thanks for the link, didn't know that. Looks good for the lights but think I would want confirmation before splashing cash and I am not android, sadly.
Looks like the mirror folding are a VCDS only thing.

I believe obd11 are working on an ios version but I don’t know when it will be available.

I think OBD11 can do all this. As OBD11 nowadays can access also BCM (module 09) submodules I can't see why not the mirror folding coding wouldn't work.
However, in the OBD11 there are no documentation of the "bits" in the submodules so need to take advantage of the instructions e.g. in the thread ---> How To Program Folding Mirrors - Pictogram

Hi Guys, I have just fitted @ChrisR 's THQ v2 Headlights....all went well from a fitting point, which was nice...however, now I need to code the dipped to stay on with the main beam. I have got hold of VCDS from a friend and was now wondering if anyone has done a step by step instruction for coding this in VCDS.

If someone has that would be great...if they haven't maybe we should get these instructions written and added to the VIP section...

Thanks in advance

Matt
