Thanks for this reply @Spaghetti .... I thought I was doing something wrong.... hence taking the units off and on again!
I’ll hopefully get it coded out when I meet up with @Deaky to code the dipped/main beam issue!
Thanks again!
I can turn off the bulb monitoring to stop the error

Hi,
I've got my Ross tech cable ordered and would like to program my new THQ V2 lights so that the main and dipped bulbs will stay on together. Has anyone who has done this able to offer a how to?

It’s just a tick box on one of the bytes on 09 central electrics module.

How difficult is it to do the swap to Caravelle H7 from the standard lights?
Any how to guides around?

The actual headlight unit is easy to swap over, once you’ve got the front of the van off (grill, bumper etc).
Check out the Transporter HQ YouTube channel for a guide to fitting headlights

Thanks. No probs stripping the front end or the coding, was just making sure it’s a straight swap for the units.
Now to find a good pair

I know some companies make a wiring loom that makes it possible to have main beam and dipped both operating at the same time.
Is it possible to do this by coding alone ?

With H7s, yes, with VCDS so I have been told. Not Carista though.

H4s only have one bulb to do both so not possible.

What extra does this really give you?
My understanding is dipped is less bright and focussed closer to front of van, and main is much more wide spread, so what does having dipped on while main is on really give you?

I suppose I need to try it, but yes H7’s can be coded.

It is possible with H4s, but the bulbs will get really hot and go pop in no time.

It was a trick used in rallying in events where auxiliary lights were not permitted. The fact that the bulbs would only last one event didn't really matter.

Keeping dipped beam on keeps the foreground illuminated so main beam can be better focused for distance.

Pulling on the flasher when on dipped will put main beam on without turning dipped off. Try it, and you'll see the difference.
