My windscreen always seems a bit misty, even with the blower set to windscreen and bizarrely when I turn it to windscreen the air con comes on.
I know it certainly strips moisture out of the cabin all year long; didn't know it actually heated the air more than the normal heat exchanger/matrix. I think that is the main difference between Comfort Cooling and full air con. CC just chills the air. Full A/C ships out the moisture; cools/ heats which ever is needed; then blends fresh air with recycled to minimise energy use, yet also ensure there is fresh air.You do know that AC warms as well as cools. I leave mine on permanently, in all my cars, I always have done. The gases evaporate if the units aren't used regularly.
Did you notice if the ventilation fan was running flat out when you engaged de-mist; it should be, or progressively step up as the cabin heats. but not sure if mine does; will have to have a play.Tonight for the first time, I tried to use my heated front screen. The windscreen was misted up but the heated front screen had no effect whatsoever! I've consulted the hand book.....and surprise, surprise, it was pretty vague. It just got me thinking.....does it clear mist or for some reason that's beyond me, does it only clear frost? Maybe it's me missing something but my mate with a Mondeo says his clears a misted up screen??????
OR.......has some cretin on the production line not "plumbed" mine in?!!!!!! Any thoughts????

Mine does and clears ice. I am really impressed with mine. It clears anything in seconds. One question is about how clean the inside of your windscreen is. Mine was getting dirty from blower/air con on and wouldn't seem to clear (always seemed misty no matter what I did), now it's clearing properly as I cleaned it the weekend
I don't think it does heat the air as such, just strips the moisture out using evaporators and condensers; but could be wrongI do now @Scruffy , always thought it was cold air, but the phrase conditioning makes sense in what you say. Will try it tomorrow.
No it doesn't heat the air, it works on same principle as rear heated windscreen.
Moved north to work for a Yorkshire FS, spent half my life on planes, not been on one for 8 years, love being home for teaI don't get to drive mine to work every day either. I look out of the window and try to justify why I need to go out. The joys of working from home and when I travel for work it means a plane ride.
I reckon yours is broken it definitely demists
