Hello from Eire

Hi Guys,
My name is Andrew, I'm originally from South Africa, now living in Dublin (7yrs). I currently driving a T6 Shuttle, great for family holidays. When searching for tips and info on my van this forum inevitably comes up, there's clearly a wealth of knowledge here...

Been camping for years but just recently got myfirst camper.

A converted T6.1.

Hello All. New to the forum. Recently got a T6.1 SWB Highline in Fortana red with Devonports and the 150 engine. Loving it so far. Last van was a Ford Transit but before that I had a T5 and before that a T4. The three of them were kombis. Don't need the extra seats anymore and anyway tax regs have changed here making the kombis unaffordable sadly. Very happy with the new van, a big step up from the Ford and glad to be back in a VW again. I am a Land Surveyor so this is a perfect fit for my gear. Pic attached of its first job on a sunny day!

Hiya all, I ended up on this forum as I was looking for answers as to why the rain sensor has stopped working in in my 07 T5. It was factory fitted and after sitting up for a few years was put back on the road, only find that auto wipers not working, but that intermittent and all other functions are working. When scrolling though the central control module in OBD11 to find that rain sensor ' not installed'. All fuses seem OK. Any ideas, thanks.

Hi again! This is my second message in the forum. On the first one I was hesitating between buying second hand or new.. Finally 2 weeks ago I ordered a brand new T6.1 SWB 150hp DSG Highline in Ravenna Blue.
It´s expected to be delivered in February 2023 and it´s going to be converted by a proffessional local company here in Ireland in March.
I need all of the expertise I can gather from everyone here, as our van is a special project and I´ll be personalising the interior with arduino projects.

Hi. Buying new in the current market is probably the sensible choice provided you can tolerate the wait. I just hope your dealer hasn't set false expectations wrt delivery - they often speak with forked tongues! Some vans do come through in 6 months, but most still seem to be taking 12+ months.

He guided me on what would increase the waiting times. 4Motion for instance pushed the delivery date straight to 12 months so I discarded it. The guy also said the expected delivery would be January.. but I hope it´s beginning of March :p. Here in Ireland the market is just mad, a 3 year old van with 60k miles costs same or slightly more than new!

Wish I knew what's causing mine to take 19+ months - probably the unicorn skin upholstery and the level 4 autonomy package! :rolleyes:
