Don’t forget to quote the van cave with A plan and save another 10%!I’m from Totnes! See you around soon.. as for insurance, my renewal is coming up this month and just checking out the thread on here, A Plan are nearly always the best it seems…
Try NFU, by far the cheapest option for me.Sorting insurance is the first challenge that’s proving harder than it should be (that’s was my first post!)
Interesting. I went round to the local NFU office and they just said that they weren't competitive for campers - didn't even get as far as providing my details. It did surprise me, I must admit.Try NFU, by far the cheapest option for me.
Agreed, but I think a lot of insurers need to catch up with the market. Recent inflation has resulted in a decently-specced new van costing well over £45k and a high-end camper conversion can easily cost north of £35k, and yet many insurers appear to not like campers over £80k (at least not for a reasonable premium).I don’t think that there’s any single insurer that is best for everyone, there are so many varying stories from people, but everyones circumstances are different.
Same here, they ended up quoting me something crazy! I though I was the odd one out!A Plan seem to be well-regarded by some, but they don't like high-value campers... at least they didn't like mine.
"It's come out as a refer due to the value. We'll call you back tomorrow when we've talked to the underwriter." They never came back to me.
It's not rocket-science to conclude they weren't interested in my business, but pretty poor of A Plan to not call me back.
LV same for me, over £100 cheaper than A Plan.. I guess it’s down to mileage and use etc.. LV process was so much simpler too..Thanks all for the suggestions. LV seems the best bet for me so far. Haven’t managed to speak to anyone at A-Plan yet, they don’t make it easy with not responding to contact forms filled in and phone line only being open until 5pm. Had forgotten what a faff ringing around is for insurance, as opposed to doing a quick annual quote on confused or similar.
Adrian Flux said increasing values and thefts have led them to requiring trackers to provide theft cover for any camper over £40/45k ( can’t remember which).
Did this ever happen? We have recently moved down from the Midlands and are now just outside Barnstaple, would be good to get a little group meet up planned if anyone is interested? We should all meet up at some point and all have fish and chips.
