Help me become a T6 owner & choose base vehicle for conversion

Right @VanBlanc @Walski @Pauly and @BiTurbo thank you for your input/advice so far, I really appreciate it. I sat down last night and I have decided to go with...
• Transporter Kombi
• Highline
• 2.0 T30 SWB 150PS DSG
As the base to get fully converted, now, trying to spec it out last night blew my mind, I had several Google pages open concurrently trying to look at/research the extras. As a result I have several questions ranging from wheels, electrics to glass choices. Should I ask them in this feed or start a new one in a specific area?

Cheers

Probably easier if you start a new thread in the section that best fits your discussion

Right, here we go, apologies if some of the questions are common knowledge...
1 - Seats, I would like a double passenger with storage that swivels. Is this possible because when i select the swivel option it says to remove the dual passenger seat?
2 - Audio, is the App connect worth it? Do people upgrade to the 6.33" screen? I'm getting parking sensors front and rear, is the reverse camera overkill or useful?
3 - Rear door, power latching? electric locking? remote? without interior release!! What's the general census? I just want to open/close the boot.
4 - Windows, green insulating glass? Is it worth the £462?
5 - Heaters, necessary? worth it? again what is the general census?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions but seeing the 'T6 delays' I need to get this in order soonest.

Cheers

1. Not possible from VW. I believe there is an aftermarket kit that you can buy to make the double seat swivel.

2. Not a fan of this option, Apple Carplay for the iPhone is a bit disappointing.

Reversing camera is really useful in my opinion, one of my favourite options. Never had this or sensors on my T5, or rear glass, so got pretty good at reversing but with a 30k van you can park with confidence and squeeze into some tight spots.

Don't know about 3,4 and 5.

@DaveBos thank you for your reply. I did wonder if the App connect would be a bit of a gimmick that doesn't really add any value, the jury is still out on that for now. That's my reason for getting the camera as its a lot of money to park and manoeuvre around campsites, especially when I'm not driving lol.

I haven't got any of those option so can't give any views other than I've got the ebaspacher heater fitted as part of the conversion and it's great!!

One option I wish I'd included is the 2nd 'leisure' battery. This is something I think I'm going to be adding to mine aftermarket, but should really have went with the factory fit.

@CRD ohh I completely wrote off the leisure battery as I thought that would be something I do as part of the conversion. May have to look into that now, where does it go?

I don't know for sure, but I suspect it'll be fitted under front passenger seat?

Yeah I think it is..... Mine was fitted in conversion, in the cupboard behind the seat that you can't really use anyway..... Suspect it's easier for the convertor to do it that way than with factory leisure battery?????

No can do.

I am going to ditch the OEM kit in favour of Pioneer + speakers - talk to Jason @Absolut5 no one knows more. The Pioneer comes with App Connect regardless. Can't see the point of reversing camera when I have sensors and mirrors.
3 - Rear door, power latching? electric locking? remote? without interior release!! What's the general census? I just want to open/close the boot.
The doors open and close fine without any complication but power latch might be a good gismo.
4 - Windows, green insulating glass? Is it worth the £462?
The rear glass is all tinted anyway and has always been fine for us come hot or cold.
5 - Heaters, necessary? worth it? again what is the general census?
The OEM diesel Erber is worth having but you can fit it after for half the price. Also if it is factory fitted I believe it will exit from the B pilar behind the driver and so behind your kitchen units. If you fit after you can vent it from under the drivers seat into the floor area.

Go for the leisure battery - I presume it will be under the passenger seat as it was on our T5. The benefit is that the split charge from the intelligent alternator and all the cabling will be taken care of. The battery is probably only 80Ah which you might want to increase to 110Ah but it is still worth it to get the wiring and charge installed.

Once you (your converter) have that you can easily add mains hook up and charge - talk to Malcolm at Travelvolts.com

@VanBlanc great detail, thank you. Your answers are honest and realistic which is what I'm after, it's very easy to get caught up and add a lot of extras because on paper they sound good but in some cases they're not worth it or an aftermarket option is better/cheaper. Less spent on the purchase is more on the conversion, yey!

Just so long as you don't blame me if you don't like it :D

I have seen T5s with aftermarket swivels on a double passenger seat, its a bit of a fiddle as you have to do driver and passenger at same time so they dont hit each other so dont see why you couldnt do that on a T6 ??

We have a Sportcraft swivel on the single passenger and a Sportcraft safe with swivel on the driver. They work fine independently of each other. They are just a bit cumbersome.
