Hi I'm Solow Suspension, here to help.

Hi Andy @Solow Suspension

What's your recommendations on coilover kit to pip for to get some good lows on my Gen6?

Want to get a much better stance with the 18s and ideally keep it usable for towing caravan or jetski.

Cheers in advance, current centee to arch measurements are fr 440, rr 438mm.

Andy

Hi all and @Solow Suspension

I'm about to pull the trigger on some Solow Lows, but just wondering what else should be on the shopping list...

Views on:
  • Drop links - longer required if I'm running at let's say max drop from the box?
  • Rubber spring mounts?
  • Machined top mounts?
  • ArBs and Powerflex bushes - looking at not only changing the Suspension but also.improving body control...
Anything else I've missed or should rule out? Whilst it's on the ramp would rather do more than less....

Cheers in advance for all.help and advice!

Not able to help with the above particularly, as I don’t run Solows. But the THQ Black Friday event starts this Friday so it might be worth hanging on a couple days for the potential savings…

That’s a good list, only question really is the machined top mounts. How low are you wanting to go? You’ll get 125mm out of the Solow low kit without needing the machined top mounts.

Suspension usually isn’t included in THQ Black Friday sales. There will be loads of discounts I expect, but not suspension.

It said '10% Off - Site Wide’ in the ad I saw earlier. Just noticed the asterisk underneath that saying exclusions apply

Thanks probably not needed for the drop id like, would still like it usable tbh and do have a caravan and/or jetski to tow every so often.

Just watching the video on the NXT Plus but feel like I want the option for a lower stance if possible but maybe I'm being mad lol

NSL sits between NXT plus and the LOW kit and could be an option. Towing with the low kit will need you to be towards the higher end of the available drop.

Hello... are there any instructions about how to adjust Bilstein NSL Solows anywhere? I'm not sure if you just crawl under the van and use the supplied tool to wind them up or you have to jack up the van first, take the wheel off, or what? Also, would like to know how I'd know if I've jacked it up full height. Is it just that you can't turn it any further? Thanks.

Can I ask what size wheels & tyre dimensions are you running here? Looks great.

Bilstein NSL coilovers
Navis Ludis 20" x 9" 9J ET42
Lanvigator Catchpower PL 275/35Z/R20 102Y

Sadly I can't recommend the setup for anything other than looks. Practically it stinks.

The ride is harsh and unforgiving and the low profile tyres can't deal with potholes. Also the Lanvigator's weight rating is too low for my T32.

I bought the van for long-term travelling so added an underslung water tank, jacked up the coilovers and am soon to change the wheels and tyres for 17" steels and four season tyres

Realising that I've not done a great selling job here... I am about to sell the wheels and tyres. They are in showroom condition and have done a total of 300 miles. I'm in East Sussex, UK if anyone has any interest.

If you havent already purchased the 17" Im on 18" with load rated 103 tyres for my T32 if you want to try something different. Im on Solows at their heighest (Im in Surrey)

Thanks. I haven't purchased the yet as the 17" steels are out of stock. However there are 18" steels in stock so am interested in your experience. I had assumed that 18" would not give me sufficient cushioning effect, hence drive for 17".

Can I ask what wheels and tyres you use and how you find the ride?

I'm on 'Not So Lows', not 'So Lows' so I guess my van is probably higher than yours? Mine is at the highest drop of 65mm (although front is a little lower).

I don't suppose you have a photo to hand (comfort and practicality is my main thrust but I would like the van to look good too)?

Thank you for the info. Interesting to hear. I am in that early “wheel size research!!” phase and was looking for 19’s tbh, but like happens, am now considering 17’s & 18’ also!
