I'm sure this has been done a million times over but can't seem to find any up to date answers.

I have a 2017 factory kombi.. I'm looking for some front speaker replacements, and then to install some rears. I'm not looking for anything too dramatic or expensive, just want to improve the dismal sound quality over factory. I'm sound deadening and insulating over the next few weeks and swapping/adding some speakers seems a logical step.

Couple of questions:

- I see that people generally recommend mdf mounts to replace the plastic, I guess the size of the mount ring should match whatever speaker I want to buy?
- Does thickness become an issue? ie should I be limiting the size of the speaker based on thickness/clearances for the door card (I'd like them hidden behind the door card)?
- Same for tweeters, presumably there is limited space inside the pillar?

Finally, any recommendation for speakers? I see that rainbow 8.2 are a popular choice but they don't seem to available any more... Do any of the rainbow 6" speakers fit neatly and sound ok?

I’m afraid Rainbow is not available anymore, which is a shame as we were quite big fans.. the 8.2 was a good kit though fitting wasnt as easy as the superb Eton T6 kit,

The Eton T6 setup is as close to factory fitting as possible, basically direct fit and running 3 ohm coils for better efficiency

We do many setups from plug and play to full amplified systems,

Drop us a pm or call 01980 624740 and il go through it all in better detail

I've just done the exact same thing, bought/fitted the Etons last month and was very impressed over stock. So easy to fit as well, a straight swap with originals

I gave Jason a shout @Absolut5 for his advice on how to step it up, without breaking the bank.

He came back with some great plug & play options, well out of the normal office hours on a Sunday, may I add, what a guy! Genuinely look no further than him for audio advice.

If I get a chance over the weekend, I'll be fitting the amp and rear speakers he supplied and will be happy to drop you a line on the results.

Evening all, anyone recommend a particular model of door speaker
to upgrade my standard vw ones? They’re okay but not as good
as other vehicles I’ve had over the years
Skinns

Hi Skinns, I'm thinking about doing the same. The search function button on here will take you to loads of info on how other folk have changed theirs...

Eton is a very good direct fit setup, we also do a very good setup using Audison

On us for further details

Thanks to everyone for all the info, I’m going shopping!
Then I’m going to give it a go to fit
Much appreciated fellas

Afternoon guys,

I'm in the process of sound proofing and converting my T6 panel van into a Kombi. What speakers should I get for the back that would sound good with An Alpine INE-W928R head unit??? No really interested in a sub box and an amp etc.

thanks everyone.

Hi new to the forum some great advice on here. I know there are previous posts on speaker upgrades on here - has any one bought a DIY version since lockdown? Seems a lot of people are not / cannot trade and I would like to get these done while I have the time! Any advice greatly received thanks
