I'm sure this has been done a million times over but can't seem to find any up to date answers.
I have a 2017 factory kombi.. I'm looking for some front speaker replacements, and then to install some rears. I'm not looking for anything too dramatic or expensive, just want to improve the dismal sound quality over factory. I'm sound deadening and insulating over the next few weeks and swapping/adding some speakers seems a logical step.
Couple of questions:
- I see that people generally recommend mdf mounts to replace the plastic, I guess the size of the mount ring should match whatever speaker I want to buy?
- Does thickness become an issue? ie should I be limiting the size of the speaker based on thickness/clearances for the door card (I'd like them hidden behind the door card)?
- Same for tweeters, presumably there is limited space inside the pillar?
Finally, any recommendation for speakers? I see that rainbow 8.2 are a popular choice but they don't seem to available any more... Do any of the rainbow 6" speakers fit neatly and sound ok?
I’m afraid Rainbow is not available anymore, which is a shame as we were quite big fans.. the 8.2 was a good kit though fitting wasnt as easy as the superb Eton T6 kit,
The Eton T6 setup is as close to factory fitting as possible, basically direct fit and running 3 ohm coils for better efficiency
We do many setups from plug and play to full amplified systems,
