Internal or External Front Screen Cover - Insulated Or Not

Any recommendations for internal thermal screens, looked on Kiravans but a few reviews mention they do not fit a T6. This is due to the suckers being where the rear view mirror is?
I'm looking for interior as I often leave them on when parked in street to keep the temp regulated in my camper, so don't fancy leaving something external in the street for a prolonged time.
Just noticed go outdoors do a set for £40?

Anybody tried the Funkyleisure offering?
Seems to be reasonably priced with the same features as the pricier options.

We have the funky leisure external front cover. Works great. No condensation inside those front windows even when we have all the windows up and it’s sub zero outside.
And we reverse it so the silver face is on the inside in winter to keep the heat in. (No idea if that works though).
Had it 3 years and my only complaint is that some stitching has come undone on the Velcro.
Can only find this one pic.

Should be on bloody commission this forum. Funky Leisure external cover now purchased! :think smile bounce:

I purchased a set of external covers from Funky Leisure a couple of days ago, arrived last night. Actually the product is branded Maypole. Also looks remarkably similar to pictures online of Olpro's offering.
Anyhoo....just tried them on the van - and they don't fit. Tried everything, but basically the front cover just isn't wide enough, and it's impossible to attach to the velcro strips on the side window covers. Awaiting a response from FL re: return/refund etc. Anyone else had this problem? Seems very strange, as they're clearly labelled for T5/T6 vans.

My Olpro's are similar - Ok at the bottom, but a stretch to secure the velcro at the top.

Do you have anything above the windscreen? I have a large wind deflector for the elevating roof, windering if that is a cause.

No, nothing interfering with the fitting. If I attach the velcro on one side, the other side doesn't come close. Just seems to be the wrong size/shape.

I know they're a lot more money but I'm very happy with my rainbow screens cover - fits perfectly and there's enough room to adjust the fit slightly so that the windscreen is perfectly covered.

The only thing I wish it had was the ability to open the door, when fitted, more than a few inches. Just remember to get anything out before you fit the cover, or be prepared to scramble over stuff inside to get to the door pockets!

I've just stuck mine on to help my fridge get down to temp while I charge up the LB a bit before heading to Wales for a couple of days tomorrow.

I have the Olpro - put sides on first (just on the door straps, then fit the windscreen cover, attach Velcro, then pull back on sides and suction them. Tried other ways and appear short if doing the sides solid first.

Tried every which way - put the sides on first, just using the straps, throw windscreen cover on, try to stretch the sides to reach the windscreen cover. Can get one side to reach, but then the other side is a good couple of inches short. There's no way it will stretch any further, and can't pull the side covers any further forward. Two of us spent over an hour trying to get it to fit. Thank goodness we're not on a campsite, re-living our first air awning embarassment! (And hopefully, the neighbours were not home at the time either!!)

I was like that first time on ours - getting stressed then eldest son took a look and said try it that way (I was sure it would not fit) and was going to send back and expletives.

Good luck maybe try windscreen first, then Velcro sides and see if fits outside (oh and make sure the windscreen bit is up the right way) - frustrating if they sent the wrong one.

Appligies if grammar / spelling not good as up my mums and forgot my glasses so typing blind

That’s pretty rubbish. Also, they are nothing like the ones that I have.
So………having just gone and checked I must apologise. My screen cover is from Just Kampers. Just Kampers External Thermoscreen (Silver) VW T5 2003–2015 VW T6 2015 on
I got confused thinking I bought it when I got my Debus canopy.
Send that one back for sure.

I will try that next time.

I always fastened the suckers first because they can't go any higher, they are on the edge of the door as it is.

But worth a go!

I've got the Funky Leisure (Maypole) screen cover and it's tight but fits nicely. As said previously, fit the side window covers first then the front. Make sure its the right way up...

Hi, this is what my Olpro look like when fitted in case that helps to see the lines. Attaching the second side to the front involved Velcro first the pull back to position over side window / mirror.

From your photo, it looks like the windscreen cover is wider than the windscreen itself - the one I received wasn't. Also, it looks like the bottom corners are angled, mine were rounded. I did try it both ways up - although it clearly states the label should be at the bottom. Anyway, the other way up it's completely the wrong shape. Although the label had the SKU number corresponding to the T5/T6 cover, I strongly suspect that what I received was for a different vehicle altogether, as there was no way it was ever going to fit.
So it has been returned to FL, and strangely, they have now said "We think this is a T6.1 issue and not that the product is faulty. It has only started to come about so therefore it will be a case of refunding you." Strange, in that I can see from your photo that yours is a 6.1, and anyway, the 6.1 hasn't only just come about!

Today is a proper test for the rainbow screens cover. It's supposed to hit 31 degrees here in Kent today and my van sits on the driveway facing directly south, and it's black! Pretty much the worst case scenario for inside temps.

I've stuck the cover on this morning before the sun hit the van and I'll see how warm it gets inside. It's in the shade of a large tree at the moment, but in an hour or 2 it'll get the full sun for the rest of the day.

At midday we're sitting at 28 degrees inside.
1000009967.png

Bear in mind I've seen temperatures well into the 40's inside the van on a colder day without the windscreen cover...

Ok, 4.5hrs later and with the outside temp having risen to 32 degrees (which I quite believe!), the inside temp reaches 38 degrees. That's with no windows open and zero ventilation. A 6 degree difference isn't bad, considering...

1000009969.png

I've just removed the windscreen cover so I'll give it an hour and see how much hotter it gets inside!

That 43 degrees on the carbon monoxide detector was on the 24th June when the highest temperature was 24 degrees. So 19 degrees hotter inside the van.

1hr later without the windscreen cover and it's 10 degrees hotter inside the van.
