Knocking/Tapping noise

Hi everyone.

I purchased a new Transporter four weeks ago from VW main dealer. It had 289 miles on the clock. It’s now got 520 miles so it’s barley been used yet.

It’s developed a knocking/tapping noise from engine which is quite concerning. The van is going to be checked out next week. Im wondering if anyone else has had issues with a new T6.1. Im wondering if it’s something to do with the DMF as the noise goes when the clutch pedal pressed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Not sure how to post video on here but it sounds like a steam train. Thanks

Does it only happen when the engine is cold ? And goes away once its warmed up ?
Dip the clutch and the noise goes ? Sounds like dmf

Yeah the noise does seem to go when warmed up and when clutch depressed noise goes..

Definitely sounds worse & louder by passenger wheel. The van is going back to VW on Thursday so hopefully it’s all fixed/replaced by end of play Friday as i’m going back to work on Monday. Fingers crossed this is the only issue I have. No to pleased as it’s only done 520 miles.

I’ll be interested to hear what VW has to say about it once it’s all sorted. Hopefully I might be able to get something out of them as a goodwill gesture. A couple of other things i’m not pleased about. I caught the end of the key on the steering wheel and it’s scratched the leather. The end of the key is sharp with jagged edges. I don’t get why they would put LED lights all round and then use halogen lamps for fog lights on a highline model.
