I hope you are pulling my leg as i don’t agree….there is only so much hand-holding to be done.OK, but specifically telling them you know the version numbers of the update may have got somewhere.

I tend to strongly agree, you pay a high rate to a specialist for them to do the thinking.I hope you are pulling my leg as i don’t agree….there is only so much hand-holding to be done.
More “name and shame” like this is needed. I feel sorry for those who believe they are engaging “the experts” when they go to a stealer.I’ve personally never had a good experience at Parkway Leicester. I wouldn’t ever take my van there even if you paid me. The last time I did take it there was for a warranty job, but never again! In my experience the incompetent service reception staff don’t seem to give a monkey’s about customer service and are quite rude.
Totally agree. I’m lucky enough to have been going to a good old fashioned garage for a number of years where you can actually speak to the mechanic/owner of the garage. No bullshit, just the work and parts that are required and a personal touch too.More “name and shame” like this is needed. I did tell them when I booked it in and this morning when dropping it off.If you knew your van had an outstanding update, with regards to software version.. why didn't you tell them when you booked it in, or dropped it off in the morning?
The sos warning could have happened at any point, so hardly caused by the dealer. Just bad timing, if nothing else!
Granted, its not the best with missing it needed an update, but they're only human? Surely..
Phil, sorry but it's a premium service we pay for, can't we expect at least a half competent service? If you knew your van had an outstanding update, with regards to software version.. why didn't you tell them when you booked it in, or dropped it off in the morning?

Unfortunately, as demonstrated, expectations and reality frequently differ!Phil, sorry but it's a premium service we pay for, can't we expect at least a half competent service?
I wish I had one of those down my way! I can’t complain, a fellow forum member could point me at a stealer worth talking to.Totally agree. I normally go Cov but used parkway for recent minor service. Had usual health check no issues which was a surprise as I knew from previous MOT and service that the rear brake pads were end of life. 4 days later I had metal on metal low and behold they were completely shot.Has anyone had any issues with this dealer recently? I've read some pretty negative reviews. But they seem to be very competitive on price.
Cheers
Mate Parkway are just shit. My 2017 van had 1300 miles on the clock and the fuel gauge stuck. Told them this BEFORE it was converted. Took it in for service some balloon tried to blame the fitting of the diesel heater and it is not covered under warranty despite me logging it with them. Wouldn’t even look at it although the converter was VW approved. As I write this on Monday 3 Feb 2025, i am waiting for a call back from service desk manager at Parkway. A week ago on way to school drop off oil warning light flashing, so got to school and parked. Checked the dipstick no issue, called AA they arrived, checked it no issue. Put their laptop got 4 codes, I took a picture of screen, didnt clear codes. AA guy suggested we go down to Parkway as a breakdown and get it checked.
Long story but Parkway insisted Oil issue was overfilling, I have not put a drop in it over 18 months, it was due a service but i have done just about 10k.
After paying out £1100 on picking up VW on saturday when we were told works cost about £745????
The other works was DSG oil service, Air Con service as they said it was due. I didnt know anything about service schedules as I dont have the book but i should have researched the intervals my bad! There was a £300 odd diagnose costs hence the final total which were not fully told about until saturday
I agree re Coventry, I had some issues but tbf their hands were tied by the whole VW b*ll Sh*t processes which sometimes blow your mind. They did do their best to helpMate Parkway are just shit. Took it to Coventry Van centre and got whole new level of service. They warned me if they took it apart, the diesel heater was the issue I’d get a bill.
They had a look and the sender was duff. Been going there ever since. Great level of service. Ask for Rachel or Chris. Good honest people.
I can vouch for Lion Garage HinkleyNot heard back from Parkway and it’s mid afternoon apparently manager doing interviews
Anyway I found an independent place called VW transporter specialists in Wigston Leicester so next service I give them a go ?
Anyone used them ?
I was hoping to use a garage that can update the Vw electronic service book I know I should get to uptight about this as paper records as good but with the on board computer needs to set etc seem sensible thing? This Vw specialist place saying they can access the electronic service book it looks a good place possibly ? Their google reviews are promisingI can vouch for Lion Garage Hinkley
Holy thread resurrection but I am sure I was using Parkway's parts dept., which was shifted into the commercial vehicle side well into 2019 after TPS stopped mere mortals shopping there.I feel it's about time I gave my VW dealer a good review.
My sales chap Steve was, and still is a great guy, and very good at his job.
I had no intention of replacing my previous Vivaro, because it was only 2 years into a finance deal though my business, but Steve was given the outstanding balance, the amount I wanted to pay as a deposit, and what my business would pay a month, and to be fair it was a big ask, but with a little toing and froing, and some extra incentives from VW, Steve finally got to where we were both very happy.
The van arrived exactly on time, and everything was exactly as I wanted. I've had no issues with my van yet, and currently it's showing 8000 miles since new in October 2017. So I haven't had the pleasure of the service department, but I got the first 3 services thrown in with my deal anyway, so as they are free, I don't foresee any major complaints.
I have however had to go back to Parkway because for some reason the towing eye cover on my Sportline splitter had vanished, and this isn't the same as the standard Highline bumper towing eye cover.
Parkway don't actually have a parts dept, and this is done through TPS VW parts in Leicester, who couldn't supply me with the cover I need, because they explained that anything Sportline, cannot be sold to the general public, and had to go through your supplying dealer. So I shot back over to Parkway, and spoke to my man, who walked me over to the service desk and explained the situation.
The lovely young lady proceeded to order me, not 1, but 2 towing eye covers, and have them painted in my Black, all for free!! So again, another huge thumbs up to Parkway Leicester.
I know not everyone's had great experiences of their main dealers, but I for one would travel to the right place knowing i'd get looked after from start to finish, and after! So I highly recommend Parkway for those in the Midlands and further afield.
