MPG 150 DSG

I've only just been using the cruise control in the last few days to basically keep to the speed limit, I guess the mpg goes down because there is no coasting with the cruise on maybe

I use cruise most of the time and notice most drivers can’t keep a constant speed, so surely slowing and accelerating like this would be similar to the cruise maintaining a constant speed, hence very similar fuel consumption.

I’ve always used cruise control and had never thought about it and/or links to fuel consumption before getting the T6. I did use when I first got the T6 but with various posts on here about fuel consumption and potential links to engine management problems using the increase/decrease speed (control of speed via buttons is the best part about cruise for me) I stopped. No evidence on my part to challenge increase/decrease mpg from using.

Old style cruise control using vacuum lines and actuators on used to be less fuel efficient. Nowadays most cars use electronic throttle bodies on petrols and much better injector control on diesels to electronically control cruise.

Mines a Lwb 150 manual, converted as a mobile office with full width bed etc, so not lightweight, A and B road driving with towns and Bath, and average about 38. As elsewhere, don’t often use cruise, and have to release and reapply throttle, otherwise mpg seems to drop into 20’s. Certainly a different driving technique to my cars.

First tank of fuel on my 150 DSG oil burner was 29.2. Zeroed today and did 60 miles mixed town and country. Arrived home and the MFD read 42.1mpg. Vans done only 460 miles. So I'm hoping I've got an economical and not a fickle one.

150DSG, AC on 365 days a year, stop/start on, cruise in use most of the time and after 8000 miles settled on a true average of 34mpg (35.8 on MFD) - absolutely no complaints from me, I think that’s excellent. Anything over 30 is fine by me and it’s way better than my old T5 ever got!

No complaints from me either - very happy with the circa 40 MPG I am getting. My comments re cruise control, AC, etc. above are just trying to help with understanding why we are all seeing so much variance in MPG figures.

Total agreement. ANYTHING over 30mpg is well acceptable. Anything over 35mpg is a bonus.

Since posting I've filled up a few more times, im mostly stop starting city driving, but the bus is on its way down south soon so a good run will give me an idea, I use cruise on motorway runs so will carry on using it, started using the coast function a lot round town and its really good its defiantly a different style of driving to my other vans.

After nearly a year of ownership, the best I've had from my 150 TDI DSG is 34mpg after a long trip to the south coast.
Usuall average is 31mpg.

Again, pretty appalling considering I dont go over 65mph and the van is mostly empty.

Did 130 miles yesterday from Poole to East Devon. Some town driving, quite a few hills and cruising around 8t. Average 36mpg according to MFD. if that's true, I'm very pleased seeing the van has not yet clocked 600 miles.

Just been down to Poole did 75 on motorway had air con on a bit but not all the time, used cruise control, did some town driving etc whilst their averaged just over 40mpg which was good, my old vivaro best was 36mpg on a similar run, mine is DSG, got another motorway run on Sunday so ill post how it goes,
I dont use MFG for MPG as they are usually not accurate and always fill up to full and then work out usage etc, its the most accurate way of dong it.
