Mud Flaps for tailgate vans... recommendations??

They have different bumpers but I thought the difference was the top of the bumper where the bottom corners of the doors meets the bumper, barn door bumpers have a cutaway chamfered edge to allow for the hinge action of the door

These are on ebay. Bit small but the mounting holes are drilled into the wheel arch liner, not the bumper.

Chris. Yes fitted them this morning. The rears only require two holes drilled into the liner as the two existing torx screws are used. The fronts need 3 holes drilled. Simply offer the flap up to the liner and drill. I was doing a wheel swap in anycase but very easy to do once the wheels are out the way. You could probably bradle the holes if you didnt want to remove the wheels. The plastic is soft enough. My van has a tailgate.

The next question is are you satisfied with them?

I'm going to be painting my calipers after I get the van so prob a good chance to get these on

I'd have liked them to be a little longer so as to catch more spray. However, the moulding is well done to follow the contours of the liner and arch. They're an easy fit, secure and pliable enough to have some give if snow, slush or debris get stuck in there.

Glad I read this section....almost too late. Picked my Genuine VW mud flaps up today.....got back keen to fit and saw the drawings, saw a picture of a drill and was like whatttttttt.
Definitely not keen on drilling holes in the side or under for that matter, honestly thought a mud flap would be simple and pick up on existing screws and bolts.
Will be checking out the Veedub ones or even the Caddy if that can work...

The veedubs ones are for barn door not tail gate.

I heard back from them and they expect to have tailgate ones soon.

I'm waiting

Ha..........just received mine from Vanstyle, they're silly things, didn't realise they were quite so far down the bumper, they look ridiculous ! Might wait and see when Veedub brings theirs out and get them instead, don't fancy drilling holes in bumper, my luck I'll get it wrong and end up looking like it's been gone at with a 12 gauge ! Own fault really, should have done my research

When T5's came out, we had two nearly identical vans, one with genuine mudflaps front and rear, and one without. Both vans would get equally dirty on the same journeys', and we came to the conclusion that they were of no real benefit.

Yeah I think the same, as this Kombi is not a business vehicle but for 2 pensioners who have always wanted a VW Van and will be washing and waxing itmost weeks lol

Not jealous at all VWRobert :) well done for getting what you've always wanted, I have a friend who is in a very similar situation as you and he couldn't be more relaxed, I put it down to his new lifestyle of traveling around in the van, camping with his grandkids....just what he always wanted. Hope you guys really enjoy it and have a lot of good times in your van. Wish I could spend more leisure time in mine :( Good point about the m/flaps, I may well just leave them off...especially if they don't make much difference. Happy travels......

When I read some reviews about having to drill rear mudflaps I phoned VWVC and amended my order and cancelled the factory fit mudflaps. Seems a poor idea to drill painted finish bumper to me

Hi everyone
Have just bought a full set of mud flaps for my t6 from vandemon but they don't come with fittings!
Does anyone know where to get some and are they easy to fit?

47C656B3-8975-43B7-94F8-CF49914981E5.jpeg Handy hints and top tips folks, and apologies if this has been mentioned before (I did search) If you are fitting the rear mud flaps from veedub transporters (which fitted very well I might add) but initialy I imagined the top edge would be placed where the bumper meets the quarter panel, wrong was I !! You will need to fit it so that the top edge of the mud flap is around 15mm down from the top edge of the bumper as in the pic, this will ensure that the mud flaps sit square to the wheel, made this mistake when fitting the first one which was easily rectified, but anyways thought this might help someone from making the same mistake as me, cos if you fit them sqint you will be kicking yourself and your van will look like a circus

I fitted mine so that they were at the top of the bumper and the bottom of the mud flap is square to the road. They do taper out slightly but no different to the OEM ones fitted to our Yeti. The only issue I have is that they are not wide enough to cover the inside of the wheel....they do a very good job of keeping the road cack off the paintwork though. It's worth noting that I have my summer wheels on at the moment (18" with 255s) and these do sit further out. Maybe it will look like a clown car when the standard 17"s go back on next month!

Thats great yours fitted at the top of the bumper , I just assumed that this would be the case too , anyhoo got them on now and they look square, perhaps it would be a good idea to get someone to eyeball them as you hold them in position, then you would know fo-sho before you fixed them, another top tip is to give them a once over with some tyre wall shine, this made them come up nice and black, all I need now is a small VW badge or decal to fit on each of the rear mud flaps
