My van is old already!

I always wanted one too growing up because it was the closest I could find to The Fall Guys GMC.

Can someone explain private plates please - I thought that you never actually owned the plate - you just paid a fee to use it and if you chose not to put it on a registered vehicle then you could pay a holding fee of some description to keep it? Therefore you're not actually in a position to sell it? I seriously considered VW16 DUB for my van but missus thought it was a waste of money. Thanks.

Dont know were you've got that info from.. i've been buying and selling plates for years..
You buy them and there your's forever..
Till sold to anyone..

Yes that's right. You can out them on retention like mine are currently.

You buy the plate for the advertised price and its yours, theres an £80 fee every time you transfer it, you can put it on retention (ie put it on paper and not use it) but it still costs £80 to transfer it onto or off of retention

Just to clarify this (as we have recently done it) but if you pay £80 to put it on retention then you don't pay to put it on to the next vehicle, as you have already paid the transfer fee...

Do insurance company need to be notified too? meaning another 'admin' fee.

Admiral allow a grace period of 30 days in which you can change the VRN at no charge after which any change to the policy incurs a £19 admin fee. This includes taking it back off if you need to put it on retention before selling.

Yes they need to know..but no admin fee..

We had an admin fee to take it off the Zafira, but in putting it on the Caravelle we were within the first couple of weeks so this was free. Had we left it longer to put the plate on, there would have been another admin fee!

It's come up with Inspection due in ... days that have been counting down. I phoned the dealer and it is an Inspection not a service. Apparently they "Inspect" everything, top up fluids, plug it in, do any recalls and are also doing a couple of warranty issues whilst it is there. The Inspection and Service schedule are visible in the Multi Function Display

Mines being saying that too and when i rang dealer they apologised for it not being set right on delivery and said they didnt want it until the 2nd year is up ?? think i will pop in tomorrow and see what they say

Mine knew straight away it didn't need the service and told me about the inspection, the difference in dealer knowledge and the things we are all told around the country is pretty shocking

just coming up to 600 miles so nothing yet..lol
ps. i hate dealers im going to an indy for my servicing warranty still stands
